The University of Pittsburgh: a three and three-quarter-year experience with cadaveric renal transplantation under the point system. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Eight hundred and sixty kidney transplants were performed at the University of Pittsburgh over a 3.75-year period between January 1, 1986 and October 19, 1989.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

7 Years Experience of Living Donor Kidney Transplantation in Indonesia: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesActa Medica Indonesiana, 2018
Background: kidney transplantation has been developing rapidly in Indonesia in recent years, yet data on transplants’ characteristics and survival is still unavailable. In Indonesia, only living donors are permitted.

What is the impact of human leukocyte antigen mismatching on graft survival and mortality in renal transplantation? A meta-analysis of 23 cohort studies involving 486,608 recipients

open access: yesBMC Nephrology, 2018
s Background The magnitude effects of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) mismatching on post-transplant outcomes of kidney transplantation remain controversial.

Increased apoptosis of immunoreactive host cells and augmented donor leukocyte chimerism, not sustained inhibition of B7 molecule expression are associated with prolonged cardiac allograft survival in mice preconditioned with immature donor dendritic cells plus anti-CD40L mAb [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Background. We previously reported the association among donor leukocyte chimerism, apoptosis of presumedly IL-2-deficient graft-infiltrating host cells, and the spontaneous donor-specific tolerance induced by liver but not heart allografts in mice ...

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Extracorporeal Rescue for Early and Late Graft Failure after Cardiac Transplantation: Short Result and Long-Term Followup

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
Objectives. Graft failure after heart transplantation led to poor outcomes. We tried to analyze the outcomes of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) rescue in graft survival after transplantation. Methods.

A high incidence of native portal vein thrombosis in veterans undergoing liver transplantation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The incidence of native portal vein thrombosis (PVT) in liver transplant recipients has been reported to range from 2.1 to 13.8%. We have identified an inordinately high incidence of PVT in a consecutive series of U.S.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Conditional Survival for Pancreas Graft and Its Associated Factors After Pancreas Transplantation

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery
Aim Traditional actuarial graft survival estimates are useful in pancreas transplantation (PTx) cases. From the perspective of patients, however, a more accurate estimate is necessary to predict long‐term prognosis with consideration of their specific ...
