Grain boundary inhomogeneity and grain boundary heterodiffusion
Philosophical Magazine A, 1995It is shown that the inhomogeneity of the grain boundary (GB) i.e. the effect of the distribution of different lattice sites on the heats of interaction with species, leads to nonlinear GB penetration plots (in Fisher's coordinates). The sign of curvature and the values of deviation from a straight concentration profile depend on the interaction ...

Evolution and trend to equilibrium of a (planar) network of grain boundaries subject to curvature driven growth is established under the assumption that the system is initially close to some equilibrium configuration. Curvature driven growth is the primary mechanism in processing polycrystalline materials to achieve desired texture, ductility ...

Grain Boundary Sliding at Serrated Grain Boundaries
Advanced Performance Materials, 1997A constitutive model is developed for grain boundary sliding (GBS) at serrated grain boundaries. Based on a previously developed GBS model, using the dynamics of grain boundary dislocation pile-up, the present model takes the average of the sliding rate over the characteristic dimensions of grain boundary serrations.
