Heterogeneous grain initiation in solidification

Philosophical Magazine, 2006
Grain refinement in casting of aluminium alloys can be quantitatively modelled by assuming that the barrier for grain initiation on an inoculant particle is that for free growth from the particle rather than for the initial formation of the solid.

Diagnosis and Grading of Grain Initial Quality

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1997
Abstract Building up an expert system enabling initial grading of cereal grain quality is presented. The system, easily changeable, is reasoning from experts knowldege about quality deterioration during grain storage. Knowledge was represented as asbtract objects. These objects were inter-related by abstract operations, and scaled into a common space

Initiating Coarse-Grained MD Simulations for Membrane-Bound Proteins

2021
Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations have become a widely used tool in the scientific community for understanding molecular scale phenomena that are challenging to address with wet-lab techniques. Coarse-grained simulations, in which multiple atoms are combined into single beads, allow for larger systems and longer time scales to be explored than ...

Economic impacts of the Black Sea Grain Initiative

Journal of Agricultural Economics, 2023
AbstractIn this research, we use econometric analysis to estimate the impacts of the Black Sea Grain Initiative on international wheat and corn prices. Using these results, we assess the economic value of the treaty to the global food system, as well as the regional distribution of the associated welfare savings.
