Study on the grain refinement mechanism of the machined surface of Inconel 718
In machining processes, the high temperature and stress can lead to plastic deformations of the workpiece material. Thermomechanical loading has a significant impact on the microstructure of the machined surface, including grain deformation ...

Refining Coarse-grained Spatial Data using Auxiliary Spatial Data Sets with Various Granularities [PDF]
We propose a probabilistic model for refining coarse-grained spatial data by utilizing auxiliary spatial data sets. Existing methods require that the spatial granularities of the auxiliary data sets are the same as the desired granularity of target data.

Breaks in the Hall-Petch Relationship after Severe Plastic Deformation of Magnesium, Aluminum, Copper, and Iron [PDF]
Strengthening by grain refinement via the Hall-Petch mechanism and softening by nanograin formation via the inverse Hall-Petch mechanism have been the subject of argument for decades, particularly for ultrafine-grained materials. In this study, the Hall-Petch relationship is examined for ultrafine-grained magnesium, aluminum, copper, and iron produced ...

Characterizations of the expanse of processes parameter combinations that can be used to minimize cracking and porosity while optimizing crystallization and hardness are used to assess laser processing of four glass‐forming alloys. The set of viable alloys for laser additive manufacturing is not the same as for suction casting; some alloys are common ...

Grain Refinement in Dual-Phase Steels
Deformation-induced ferrite transformation (DIFT) was applied in laboratory tests to produce fine-grained dual-phase (DP) steels. Four different chemistries were investigated, starting from a conventional DP 600 chemistry of 0.06 wt pct C-1.9 wt pct Mn-0.16 wt pct Mo and subsequently varying Nb and Mo additions.

Grain refinement limit of commercial pure Al inoculated by Al-Ti-C (B) master alloys [PDF]
The grain refinement limits of commercial pure Al inoculated by Al-5Ti-1B, Al-5Ti-0.25C and Al-5Ti-0.3C-0.2B master alloys were studied, and the influence of melting temperature on the grain refining performance of these three master alloys was ...

Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing of High‐Nitrogen Alloyed FeCr(Si)N Stainless Steel
The alloying element Nitrogen enhances stainless steel strength, corrosion resistance, and stabilizes austenite. This study develops austenitic FeCr(Si)N steel production via powder metallurgy. Fe20Cr and Si3N4 are hot isostatically pressed, creating an austenitic microstructure.

FITA: Fine-grained Image-Text Aligner for Radiology Report Generation [PDF]
Radiology report generation aims to automatically generate detailed and coherent descriptive reports alongside radiology images. Previous work mainly focused on refining fine-grained image features or leveraging external knowledge. However, the precise alignment of fine-grained image features with corresponding text descriptions has not been considered.
