Addition of Al—Be master alloy to a Mg—Zr alloy reduces melt oxidation, however, it has a detrimental grain coarsening effect that is believed to be caused by an unknown interaction of Be with the Zr nucleant particles.

Grain refinement of superalloys K3 and K4169 by the addition of refiners [PDF]
Grain refinement of superalloys K3 and K4169 is achieved by adding refiners A, B, or mixed refiner (A+B) into the melt of alloy K3, and refiner C into the melt of alloy K4169 under different casting parameters. Results indicate that the mixed refiner (A+B) produces the best refining effect for alloy K3.

Spatial distribution of microstructure in Inconel 718 3D‐printed with bidirectional strategy with no rotation and chessboard strategy is studied. The former results in a highly ordered arrangement of coarse grains separated by line clusters of dislocation‐dense fine grains. This arrangement is disrupted by the chessboard strategy.

Fine-grained Cross-modal Fusion based Refinement for Text-to-Image Synthesis [PDF]
Text-to-image synthesis refers to generating visual-realistic and semantically consistent images from given textual descriptions. Previous approaches generate an initial low-resolution image and then refine it to be high-resolution. Despite the remarkable progress, these methods are limited in fully utilizing the given texts and could generate text ...

Multilayer ferrite inductor prototypes are fabricated by cofiring metallized tapes of NiCuZn ferrite and glass‐ceramic composite. Prerequisites for a predictive component simulation are discussed. An automated data‐pipeline stores and semantically links the experimental data acquired in the study according to a domain ontology.

Information and Coarse-Graining in Eternal Black Holes [PDF]
Recently it was shown in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence that the classical gravity description inevitably involves coarse-graining of some degrees. In this note we clarify the nature of this coarse-graining both in gravity and field theory sides. We show that the information carried by the bulk classical gravity fluctuation is transferred to

Fine-grained Visual Classification with High-temperature Refinement and Background Suppression [PDF]
Fine-grained visual classification is a challenging task due to the high similarity between categories and distinct differences among data within one single category. To address the challenges, previous strategies have focused on localizing subtle discrepancies between categories and enhencing the discriminative features in them.
