Identification and Verification of qGS11, a QTL Controlling Grain Size and Heading Date in Rice

open access: yesAgriculture, 2022
Grain size, shape and weight are important factors influencing grain yield and quality of rice. They are mostly determined by grain length (GL) and grain width (GW).

Maize Hybrids Yield as Affected by Inter and Intra Row Spacing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
To study the effect of different, inter and intra-row on some new maize hybrids under on yield and its components. Two field experiments were carried out during summer seasons of 2014 and 2015.

Sucrose Synthase Enhances Hull Size and Grain Weight by Regulating Cell Division and Starch Accumulation in Transgenic Rice

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
Grain size and weight are two important determinants of grain yield in rice. Although overexpression of sucrose synthase (SUS) genes has led to several improvements on cellulose and starch-based traits in transgenic crops, little is reported about SUS ...

Development of a Novel Processing Route for Dispersoid/Precipitation‐Strengthened High Conductive Copper Alloys by Using Metalized Nanoceramics in Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 14, July 2025.
This study explores a process chain to produce dispersoid‐strengthened CuCr1Zr for applications requiring high strength and conductivity. Using gas‐atomized powder and copper‐plated alumina nanoparticles, additive manufacturing is performed via powder bed based additive manufacturing with green and red lasers, followed by heat treatment.

Validation of Candidate Gene-Based Markers and Identification of Novel Loci for Thousand-Grain Weight in Spring Bread Wheat

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Increased thousand-grain weight (TGW) is an important breeding target for indirectly improving grain yield (GY). Fourteen reported candidate genes known to enhance TGW were evaluated in two independent and existing datasets of wheat at CIMMYT, the Elite ...

Identification and validation of a new grain weight QTL in rice [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Research, 2013
The genetic control of grain weight (GW) remains poorly understood. Quantitative trait loci (QTLs) determining the GW of rice were identified using a natural GW mutant, sgw. Using a segregating population derived from sgw (low GW) and cultivar 9311 ('9311'; indica, high GW), the chromosome segment associated with GW was detected on the short arm of ...

Analysis of Temperature and Stress Distribution on the Bond Properties of Hybrid Tailored Formed Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Hybrid materials enable high‐performance components but are challenging to process. This study explores an inductive heating concept with spray cooling for steel–aluminum specimens in a two‐step process including friction welding and cup backward extrusion.

Spike productivity in relation to yield as criterion for emmer wheat breeding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Landraces, which are unbred cereal species, and include in particular the tetraploid emmer wheat, have become an important focus for the activities of local or organic farmers, processors and consumers of organic products. This study is based on analyses

Whole-grain foods and chronic disease: evidence from epidemiological and intervention studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Cereal-based foods are key components of the diet and they dominate most food-based dietary recommendations in order to achieve targets for intake of carbohydrate, protein and dietary fibre.
