Barley is a strategic crop worldwide predominantly cleistogamous. This automatic self-pollination favorable among others for spike resistance to Fusarium and to Ustillago nuda is essentially assured by lodicules in grain.

Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the

Grain movement between the cylinders of a semi-automatic rotary dryer during heating [PDF]
The drying efficiency depends on many factors, in particular, on the movement of grain in the space between the outer cylinder and the inner cylinder during its heating and drying.

Grain Size and Domain Width of a Very Thin 3% Si-Fe Sheet
Very thin (less than 0.1 mm thick) grain-oriented silicon sheets are known to have lower iron losses than iron-based amorphous materials. It is possible to reduce the iron loss of very thin grain-oriented silicon steel further by applying new magnetic domain refining techniques. One method of domain refinement is through control of the grain size.

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...
