Forage and grain yields of wheat and barley
Plots were grown at the Animal Science and Industry Farm near Manhattan in 1973-74 and 1974-75 and at the South Central Kansas Experiment Field at Hutchinson in 1974-75. Hard red winter wheat varieties used were Parker, Eagle and Sage; soft red winter wheats were Arthur-71 and Blue Boy II.

Additive Manufacturing of Highly Alloyed Aluminum–Lithium
Al–Li alloys, promising for future lightweight constructions due to their low density and high stiffness, are limited to 9 at% lithium in commercial forms because of segregation issues. To overcome this traditional limitation, powder bed fusion with an ultrashort pulse laser is used.

Multilayering of TiN film with metallic Ti film is adopted to enhance the fracture resistance of TiN thin films. Plastic dissipation within Ti with process zone size of ≈250 nm, along with elastic–plastic mismatch driven changes to crack driving force enhances the crack growth resistance by ten times, enabling physics informed design of optimized ...

Yield prediction by analysis of multispectral scanner data [PDF]
A preliminary model describing the growth and grain yield of wheat was developed. The modeled growth characteristics of the wheat crop were used to compute wheat canopy reflectance using a model of vegetation canopy reflectance.

Intercropping cereals and grain legumes: a farmer’s perspective [PDF]
Intercropping cereals and grain legumes show potential for organic agriculture in many ways. However, the use of land equivalent ratio (LER) as a measure for calculating the cropping advantage of intercrops over sole crops is too simple: neglecting weed ...
