In Situ Detection of Opal‐A in Jezero Crater, Mars

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract We report the in situ detection of amorphous hydrated silica in the Bills Bay abrasion patch, located in the eastern portion of the Margin Unit between the rim of Jezero crater and the western delta. Here, hydrated silica co‐occurs with olivine, Fe‐Mg carbonates, secondary Fe‐Mg silicates, and hydrated Mg‐sulfate as determined by UV Raman ...

Artabas of Grain or Artabas of Grains?

open access: yesBulletin of the American Society of Papyrologists, 2014
Survey of the use of the singular and plural with Greek words for grain. Leaf longevity and structure, fruit mass and phenology in 52 cultivated varieties and wild accessions of olive

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 5, Page 1193-1206, May 2026.

GRAIN-GRAIN INTERACTION IN OSCILLATING SHEETFLOW

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 1988
Viscous grain-grain interaction is an important aspect of the dynamics of oscillating sheetflow. This interaction between sand grains has been investigated qualitatively in a pulsating water tunnel. Furthermore, experiments concerning the interaction between neutrally buoyant spheres in a Couette flow have been carried out at a scale of 100:1 in a new ...

A Generic Spinup Procedure to Initialize European Forest State Variables in Land Surface Models

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 18, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Forest structure is shaped by forest management practices, land‐use changes, and natural disturbances, including droughts, fires, storms, and insect outbreaks that drive species‐specific and size‐specific mortality. By modifying the carbon‐water‐energy exchanges with the atmosphere, it influences a stand's capacity to buffer against or succumb
