Adjusting Cell‐Surface Interactions Through a Covalent Immobilization of Biomolecules
This review presents an overview of current and emerging immobilization techniques coupled with an in‐depth investigation of the underlying mechanisms governing the activity and stability of covalently immobilized biomolecules. The aim of this study is to serve as a guide for the development of long‐lasting biomedical coatings with versatile biological

Motility Modulates the Partitioning of Bacteria in Aqueous Two-Phase Systems [PDF]
We study the partitioning of motile bacteria in an aqueous two-phase mixture of dextran (DEX) and polyethylene glycol (PEG), which can phase separate into DEX-rich and PEG-rich phases. While non-motile bacteria partition exclusively into the DEX-rich phase in all conditions tested, we observed that motile bacteria penetrate the soft DEX/PEG interface ...

A stable bio‐based nanocomposite coating for urinary catheters is developed using a simple, environmentally‐friendly sonochemical process. The coating, integrating antimicrobial, antibiofilm, and antioxidant properties, effectively tackled multiple early‐stage pathogenic factors associated with catheter‐associated urinary tract infections.

Chemistry and Biology of Streptogramin A Antibiotics [PDF]
The streptogramin A antibiotics have proven to be highly active against Gram positive bacteria, particularly methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Members of this group of compounds are characterized by a 23-membered macrocycles containing polyene,

Abstract Additive carbonylations typically necessitate strong nucleophiles, such as alcohols or amines. In this study, we carbonylated a poorly nucleophilic urea, under oxidant‐free conditions. Our straightforward carbonylative strategy enables access to versatile α,β‐unsaturated γ‐lactams featuring an aminocarbonyl fragment, utilizing readily ...
