Protein secretion in Gram-positive bacteria

Journal of Biotechnology, 1992
Gram-positive bacteria often secrete large amounts of proteins into the surrounding medium. This feature makes them attractive as hosts for the industrial production of extracellular enzymes. Compared to Escherichia coli, relatively little is known about the mechanism of protein secretion in these organisms.
