Endotoxins of gram-negative anaerobic bacteria

Infection, 1980
The author reviews the data available on endotoxins of Fusobacterium, Sphaerophorus, Leptotrichia, and Veillonella species, and reports his own findings with lipopolysaccharides extracted from Bacteroides fragilis strains by the trichloroacetic acid method. The latter extracts showed a very low toxicity for mice after i.v.

Multidrug resistance in Gram-negative bacteria

Current Opinion in Microbiology, 2001
Broadly specific, so-called multidrug, efflux mechanisms are now known to contribute significantly to intrinsic and acquired multidrug resistance in a number of Gram-negative bacteria, and the boom in bacterial genomics has confirmed the distribution of these systems in all bacteria.

Brewing bacteriology was born when microorganisms responsible for the spoilage of beer were investigated by Louis Pasteur in his classic nineteenth century study. He was called upon to determine why French beer was inferior to German beer. He isolated a number of bacterial contaminants from French beer and malt wort and in 1876 published his famous ...
