Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Classification of Earthquakes Using Grammatical Evolution
Earthquake predictability remains a central challenge in seismology. Are earthquakes inherently unpredictable phenomena, or can they be forecasted through advances in technology?

Constituent grammatical evolution [PDF]
Evolutionary algorithms are a competent nature-inspired approach for complex computational problem solving. One recent development is Grammatical Evolution, a grammar-based evolutionary algorithm which uses genotypes of variable length binary strings and

The evolution of grammatical structures and ‘functional need’ explanations
When speaking about the way language evolved in human prehistory, it is highly implausible to assume that humans developed language because they needed it in order to adapt better, and faster, to their environment.

Transcripts enriched in codons that trigger P‐site tRNA‐mediated mRNA decay possess stable mRNA
PTMD codons were first described by Mendel et al. as mediators of an mRNA decay pathway dependent on the human protein CNOT3, homologous to yeast Not5. Our findings confirm that PTMD codons destabilize transcripts; however, unlike in yeast, the human pathway specifically targets and slightly destabilizes primarily stable mRNAs.

Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

MagmaFlow: A desktop platform for artificial intelligence‐driven expression analysis
MagmaFlow is a free, no‐code platform for gene expression analysis. It generates interactive volcano plots, links genes to literature, pathways, and diseases, prioritizes candidates using millions of publications, identifies affected biological processes, builds network diagrams, and exports publication‐ready figures and reports for macOS and Windows ...

Enhancing grammatical evolution
Grammatical Evolution (GE) is a method of utilising a general purpose evolutionary algorithm to evolve programs written in an arbitrary BNF grammar. This thesis extends GE as follows: GE as an extension of Genetic Programming (GP) A novel method of automatically extracting information from the grammar is introduced.
