Topology of Hořava–Lifshitz black holes in different ensembles

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
In this paper, we study topological numbers for uncharged and charged static black holes obtained in $$z=3$$ z = 3 Hořava–Lifshitz gravity theory in different ensembles, where z measures the degree of anisotropy between space and time. We first calculate

Kinetic Theory with Casimir Invariants—Toward Understanding of Self-Organization by Topological Constraints

open access: yesEntropy
A topological constraint, characterized by the Casimir invariant, imparts non-trivial structures in a complex system. We construct a kinetic theory in a constrained phase space (infinite-dimensional function space of macroscopic fields), and characterize

Topology‐Aware Machine Learning for High‐Throughput Screening of MOFs in C8 Aromatic Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We screened 15,335 Computation‐Ready, Experimental Metal–Organic Frameworks (CoRE‐MOFs) using a topology‐aware machine learning (ML) model that integrates structural, chemical, pore‐size, and topological descriptors. Top‐performing MOFs exhibit aromatic‐enriched cavities and open metal sites that enable π–π and C–H···π interactions, serving as ...

A Generalized Framework for Data‐Efficient and Extrapolative Materials Discovery for Gas Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This study introduces an iterative supervised machine learning framework for metal‐organic framework (MOF) discovery. The approach identifies over 97% of the best performing candidates while using less than 10% of available data. It generalizes across diverse MOF databases and gas separation scenarios.

Statistics of non-interacting bosons and fermions in micro-canonical, canonical and grand-canonical ensembles: A survey

open access: yes, 2002
18 pagesThe statistical properties of non-interacting bosons and fermions confined in trapping potentials are most easily obtained when the system may exchange energy and particles with a large reservoir (grand-canonical ensemble).

Cell Segmentation Beyond 2D—A Review of the State‐of‐the‐Art

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Cell segmentation underpins many biological image analysis tasks, yet most deep learning methods remain limited to 2D despite the inherently 3D nature of cellular processes. This review surveys segmentation approaches beyond 2D, comparing 2.5D and fully 3D methods, analyzing 31 models and 32 volumetric datasets, and introducing a unified reference ...

Harnessing Machine Learning to Understand and Design Disordered Solids

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This review maps the dynamic evolution of machine learning in disordered solids, from structural representations to generative modeling. It explores how deep learning and model explainability transform property prediction into profound physical insight.

The Ornstein-Zernike equation in the canonical ensemble

open access: yes, 2003
A general density-functional formalism using an extended variable space is presented for classical fluids in the canonical ensemble (CE). An exact equation that plays the role of the Ornstein-Zernike (OZ) equation in the grand canonical ensemble (GCE) is

Retinal Vessel Segmentation: A Comprehensive Review From Classical Methods to Deep Learning Advances (1982–2025)

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Four decades of retinal vessel segmentation research (1982–2025) are synthesized, spanning classical image processing, machine learning, and deep learning paradigms. A meta‐analysis of 428 studies establishes a unified taxonomy and highlights performance trends, generalization capabilities, and clinical relevance.

Phase transitions, shadows, and microstructure of Kerr-Anti-de Sitter Black Holes from geometrothermodynamics

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
Using the formalism of geometrothermodynamics, we investigate the phase-transition structure and microstructure of the Kerr-Anti-de Sitter black hole and show the relationship with its shadow structure. By treating the curvature radius as a thermodynamic
