Causality Analysis: Economic Growth, Economic Openness, Energy Consumption, and Carbon Dioxide Emission Indonesia

open access: yesMedia Ekonomi dan Manajemen, 2021
The purpose of this research is to analyze the causality between economic variables, i.e. economic growth, economic openness, and energy consumption to carbon dioxide emissions, and analyze short-run and long-run connections between research variables in

What Really Drives Agri‐Environment‐Climate Measures' Adoption? Mandatory Requirements, Behavioral Traits, and Structural Factors in the CAP Green Architecture

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT To increase farmer adoption of green practices, the EU Common Agricultural Policy includes both mandatory (conditionality) and voluntary instruments (eco‐schemes–ECS– and more demanding, multi‐annual agri‐environment‐climate measures –AECM–). Building on the experiment of Barreiro‐Hurle et al.

Tourism as a factor of long-run economic growth: An empirical analysis for Chile

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Tourism Research, 2009
This paper empirically investigates the impact of tourism on the long-run economic growth of Chile by using the Johansen analysis to obtain a co-integrated vector among the relevant variables and the Granger Causality test to investigate causality.

Hemp Cultivation and Crop Diversification: Implications for Ecosystem Services in Kentucky

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the ecosystem benefits of expanding hemp cultivation by assessing its impact on crop diversity. Using scenario‐based simulations and fixed‐effect panel regressions with county‐level data in Kentucky, we find that increased hemp acreage tends to enhance crop diversity, improving water quality and bird diversity.

Temporary Programs, Lasting Questions: Ad Hoc Assistance in the U.S. Farm Safety Net

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Large ad hoc assistance programs have returned to U.S. farm policy since 2017, operating alongside a more developed safety net built around federally subsidized crop insurance, Title I commodity programs, and standing disaster assistance. This paper reviews the renewed use of ad hoc assistance, documents its recent scale using USDA data, and ...

An Interpretable Temporal Convolutional Framework for Granger Causality Analysis

open access: yesIEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica
Most existing parametric approaches for detecting linear or nonlinear Granger causality (GC) face challenges in estimating appropriate time delays, a critical factor for accurate GC detection. This issue becomes particularly pronounced in nonlinear complex systems, which are often opaque and consist of numerous components or variables.

Differentiated Impacts of EU Rural Development Measures: A Finite Mixture Evaluation of Italian Olive Farms

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the relationship between participation in the EU Rural Development Program and the economic performance of Italian olive farms using a finite‐mixture model with inverse‐probability‐weighted regression adjustment. Based on 2010–2022 FADN panel data, it estimates heterogeneous treatment effects while correcting for selection ...

How Competitive Is Myanmar's Rice Sector? A Comparison of Production Costs and Efficiency

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper analyzes the cost competitiveness of rice production in Myanmar by examining production costs, cost efficiency, and the potential effect of improving cost efficiency on the country's global competitiveness. To achieve this, we conduct a comparative analysis of production costs among major rice‐producing countries and estimate the ...
