The Unexpected Discovery of Paleocene? Coals in Outcrops Thought to Be Cambrian, Al Huqf, Oman
ABSTRACT Two brown organic deposits were encountered whilst investigating kaolinitic claystones thought to occur at the base of a Cambrian formation at outcrop. The age of these organic deposits is probably Paleocene from palynology. Organic petrography shows that they are subbituminous coals with some oil source potential.

Benzene biodegradability tests on a residual granitic soil
Benzene is a component of most fuels and an important industrial solvent. It is widely spread in soils, sediments and groundwater near diesel/gasoline service stations, refineries and in other industrial areas. For benzene, as other BTEXs, the most used in-situ remediation technology is Soil Vapour Extraction followed by bioremediation.

Three distinct source areas contributed to sandstones of the Victoria Group within the Transantarctic Basin in southern North Victoria Land. During the Permian, quartzose sandstones were derived from erosion of the local Ross Orogen, likely from an uplifted swell in the area of today's Ross Sea, the Ross High.
