Use of Particle Tracking Velocimetry for Measurements of Granular Flows: Review and Application
A brief review of publications that deal with particle image velocimetry (PIV) and particle tracking velocimetry (PTV) is presented first in this paper.

Density-driven submerged granular flows in rotating drums [PDF]
Granular flows and segregation phenomena play critical roles in diverse natural and industrial processes. We investigated the dynamics of mono-dispersed and binary granular mixtures in submerged rotating drums using combined experimental and numerical ...

Dilatancy in Slow Granular Flows [PDF]
When walking on wet sand, each footstep leaves behind a temporarily dry impression. This counterintuitive observation is the most common illustration of the Reynolds principle of dilatancy: that is, a granular packing tends to expand as it is deformed, therefore increasing the amount of porous space.

Physically-based modelling of granular flows with Open Source GIS [PDF]
Computer models, in combination with Geographic Information Sciences (GIS), play an important role in up-to-date studies of travel distance, impact area, velocity or energy of granular flows (e.g. snow or rock avalanches, flows of debris or mud).

ABSTRACT Juvenile xanthogranuloma (JXG) of the central nervous system (CNS) is a rare non‐Langerhans cell histiocytosis. CSF1R mutations have been reported for peripheral JXG, but not in CNS JXG. A 3‐month‐old male presented with fever, lymphadenopathy, and macrocephaly with bulging fontanelles.

Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Dense granular flows exhibit fascinating kinematic patterns characterised by strong fluctuations in grain velocities. In this paper, we analyse these fluctuations and discuss their possible role on macroscopic properties such as effective viscosity, non ...

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for
