Mycophenolate Mofetil Treatment Reduces the Risk of Treatment Escalation Due to Vascular Complications in Limited Cutaneous Systemic Sclerosis: Emulation of a Target Trial From the Italian Rheumatology Society SPRING Registry

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) use in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (lcSSc) is relatively uncommon because of the lower fibrotic burden and the predominance of vascular complications. In vitro observations and clinical data from transplanted patients suggest a protective effect of MMF on endothelial function.

Granularity-Adaptive Proof Presentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
When mathematicians present proofs they usually adapt their explanations to their didactic goals and to the (assumed) knowledge of their addresses. Modern automated theorem provers, in contrast, present proofs usually at a fixed level of detail (also ...

Introduction by David Wiley to Part 2 of Littlejohn, A. (2003) Reusing Online Resources: Design Perspectives

open access: yesJournal of Interactive Media in Education, 2004
: The chapters in this part of the book explore a number of ways of wrapping educational contexts around existing online resources, allowing them to be reused exactly as they are -- without necessitating editing or other alteration a priori.

Real‐World Trends in Prenatal Antirheumatic Drug Utilization in Ontario, Canada: A Cross‐Sectional Time‐Series Analysis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aimed to describe real‐world trends in preconception and prenatal use of antirheumatic drugs among pregnant individuals with rheumatic diseases in Ontario, Canada. Methods We conducted a time‐series analysis using repeated cross‐sectional data to examine annual patterns of disease‐modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) use among ...

Granularity Hierarchies

open access: yes, 1992
Many artificial intelligence systems implicitly use notions of granularity in reasoning, but there is very little research into granularity itself. An exception is the work of Hobbs, who outlines several characteristics of granularity.

Race and Household Income Are Associated With Disease Outcomes in Pediatric Patients With Antineutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibody–Associated Vasculitis Hospitalized in the United States

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Race and household income impact outcomes in patients with rheumatic conditions; however, their role in pediatric antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)–associated vasculitis (AAV) remains poorly understood. We aimed to evaluate whether race and ethnicity and household income are associated with severe AAV disease and renal outcomes among

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

Granular Cities

open access: yesEconomies
This study extends the concept of granularity from firms to cities, examining how large cities influence national economic dynamics beyond their relative size. By applying Zipf’s law, which describes the power law distribution of city sizes, we investigate the interplay between granularity and business cycles. Our aim is to test the granular hypothesis

Constitutive Granularity.

open access: yes, 2012
A constitutive granularity of molecules, cells and organs of a multicellular organism. It is characteristic of constitutive granularities that all objects belonging to one level of granularity are parts of objects of the next coarser level of granularity:
