Pulmonary granulocyte kinetics in relation to endothelial and granulocyte activation

Clinical Science, 1999
The aim of the study was to measure the peripheral blood levels of soluble E-selectin in patients with systemic inflammation and compare them with in vivo granulocyte activation, pulmonary intravascular granulocyte pooling, pulmonary extravascular granulocyte migration and 99mTc-diethylenetriaminepenta-acetic acid (DTPA) aerosol clearance, an index of ...

ANTIBIOTICS AND GRANULOCYTES

Acta Pathologica Microbiologica Scandinavica Section C Immunology, 1981
Twelve antibiotics were investigated regarding both their direct in vitro influence on granulocyte chemotaxis, and their indirect effect on the production of chemotactic factors from cultures of Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. None of the beta‐lactam antibiotics studied caused significant alterations of granulocyte migratory response when ...

Granulocytes

2001
Publisher Summary Granulocyte collections are apheresis-derived white blood cell components, usually about 300 ml in volume, composed of a mixture of granulocytes and other elements that are considered contaminants. Granulocytes are collected by apheresis of volunteer donors who are primed with corticosteroids or hematopoietic growth factors using ...

Granulocyte Kinetics in Burns

Journal of Burn Care & Rehabilitation, 1987
Granulocytes, predominantly polymorphonuclear neutrophils, are the major components of the body's defense against acute infections. Starting from pioneering work done 20 years ago by Alexander and coworkers, neutrophil dysfunction after major thermal injury has been well documented.

Granulocyte Transfusion Therapy

The International Journal of Artificial Organs, 1984
The Autors summarise their experience with the new “early granulocyte transfusion” scheme obtained in cancer patients. The data, based on three trials, clearly point out 1) the importance of early granulocyte transfusion as compared to the traditional one; 2) the efficacy of early granulocyte transfusion in pediatric age and among adult patients in ...

Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor and Granulocyte-Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor

, 1992
FOUR colony-stimulating factors influence the survival, proliferation, differentiation, and functional activation of myeloid hematopoietic cells: macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF), granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF ...

Granulocytic Sarcoma of the Skin

Archives of Dermatology, 1980
A patient with aleukemic leukemia of the acute granulocytic type, who initially had granulocytic sarcoma of the skin, is described. The skin contained focal infiltrates of pleomorphic mononuclear cells that were identified as granulocytes by demonstration of intracytoplasmic naphthol-ASD-chloroacetate esterase and lysozyme.

Pelvic granulocytic sarcoma

Skeletal Radiology, 1996
Granulocytic sarcoma is an uncommon extraskeletal tumor most frequently associated with leukemia. We present a case of bone location with unusual pattern in a patient with no evidence of myeloproliferative disorder at presentation or follow-up.

Granulocyte apoptosis and its role in the resolution and control of lung inflammation.

American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, 1999
Elucidation of the poorly understood mechanisms by which acute inflammation normally resolves is likely to provide new insights into the pathogenesis of persistent inflammatory states that characterize inflammatory disease and generate new therapeutic ...
