Lethal Midline Granuloma Starting as Granuloma Laryngis
Tumori Journal, 2000We report a case of lethal midline granuloma in a 34-year-old male patient. The patient was referred to our hospital because of long-lasting hoarseness. He was treated for granuloma laryngis. After two years nasal obstruction developed followed by ulceration of the hard palate and destruction of part of the nose and the upper lip. A biopsy demonstrated

Is Actinic Granuloma Really Granuloma Annulare?
Archives of Dermatology, 1986In 1975, O'Brien 1 described actinic granuloma and indirectly proposed criteria for diagnosis: (1) Annular, slowly enlarging plaques develop on exposed, weather-beaten skin of patients at least 30 or 40 years of age. (2) Elastotic material is present within giant cells, and the inflammation is granulomatous.

This review describes the general histopathological features of cryptococcosis in immunocompetent individuals, as well as in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Details of the histological examination of cryptococcal lesions are described, with the consideration of morphological modifications induced by treatment with highly active

A retrospective review of cases of pyogenic granuloma seen at the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia between 1984-1991 is described. Epidemiology and the factors that led to the granuloma formation were examined and only cases documented histopathologically were included in the review.

In a group of 47 patients with mediastinal granulomas, the most common clinical symptoms were cough, chest pain, dysphagia, hemoptysis, and dyspnea. The main laboratory findings were right paratracheal or hilar mass on chest roentgenogram, positive histoplasmin skin test, and caseating granuloma on histopathologic examination.

SummaryThe clinical and pathological features of six patients with facial granuloma are presented. Of a total of 11 lesions biopsied, only one was correctly diagnosed clinically, eight other lesions being regarded as basal cell carcinomas. Histological diagnosis was delayed in one patient with multiple and extrafacial lesions, emphasizing the ...

Granuloma annular (GA) is a benign inflammatory skin disease usually localized to the distal extremities, although generalized, perforating, and subcutaneous variants have also been identified. A regular histopathologic feature is the presence of mononuclear cells, often in palisading array, around foci of altered collagen.

Granulomatous diseases of the liver span a huge range of infectious, drug-related, and immunologic disorders. Familiarity with the different types of granulomas as well as how they present in different diseases can be helpful in narrowing the pathologic differential diagnosis.
