Spatio-Temporal Spread of Grapevine Leafroll Disease in Washington State Vineyards

Plant Disease, 2023
The spread of grapevine leafroll disease (GLD) to vineyards planted with certified planting stock is of significant concern to grape growers. In this study, the spatial and temporal spread of GLD was examined in three vineyard blocks planted with virus-tested wine grape (Vitis vinifera) cultivars adjacent to vineyard blocks heavily infected with GLD ...

Serological and molecular evidence for the complexity of the leafroll disease of grapevine

Plant Pathology, 1989
Samples of leafroll‐infected grapevines from various countries, as well as local sources, were tested by ELISA with antisera against two closteroviruses (GVA and NY‐1) and a potyvirus (GPV) thought to be associated with leafroll. Many of the samples reacted positively with more than one antiserum, and often with all three.

Characterization of Closterovirus‐like Particles Associated with Grapevine Leafroll Disease

Journal of Phytopathology, 1990
Abstract A purification procedure (Zeeet al. 1987) for closterovirus‐like particles associated with grapevine leafroll disease was improved after various sources of plant tissues, extraction buffers, pH values, and centrifugation techniques had been examined. An antiserum against the CA‐4 isolate was produced and used in ELISA. The virus‐like particles

A Plant‐Level, Spatial, Bioeconomic Model of Plant Disease Diffusion and Control: Grapevine Leafroll Disease

American Journal of Agricultural Economics, 2014
AbstractGrapevine leafroll disease threatens the economic sustainability of the grape and wine industry in the United States and around the world. This viral disease reduces yield, delays fruit ripening, and affects wine quality. Although there is new information on the disease spatial‐dynamic diffusion, little is known about profit‐maximizing control ...

Identification and distribution of multiple virus infections in Grapevine leafroll diseased vineyards

European Journal of Plant Pathology, 2015
A survey of viruses affecting grapevine in the wine regions of the Western Cape Province in South Africa was conducted. The survey determined the relative abundance of five different Grapevine leafroll-associated virus 3 (GLRaV-3) variants. Virus profiles were also determined for individual vines.

[Purification of closterovirus type III associated with grapevine leafroll disease].

Revue roumaine de virologie (Bucharest, Romania : 1990), 1995
The closterovirus-like particles serotype III, associated with grapevine leafroll disease, were extracted from leaves by PEG precipitation and purified by differential centrifugation. The purification schedule steps were examined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

Characterization and Serological Detection of Four Closterovirus‐like Particles Associated with Leafroll Disease on Grapevine

Journal of Phytopathology, 1990
AbstractFour serologically unrelated closterovirus‐like particles (GLRV‐1, GLRV‐2, GLRV‐3 and GLRV‐4) were isolated in our laboratory from leafroll diseased grapevines. Polyclonal antibodies raised against these particles were useful for their characterization and their detection in infected plants. The coat proteins of these four serotypes were ...

Ampeloviruses Associated with Grapevine Leafroll Disease: A New Group of Viruses in India

2017
Ampeloviruses (family Closteroviridae) are filamentous monopartite, single-stranded, positive-sense RNA genome. They are transmitted by mealybugs in semi-persistent manner and vegetative propagating material remains the major route of spread. Ampeloviruses are recent addition to the plant viruses in India. Grapevine leafroll-associated virus 3 (GLRaV-3)
