Graph products of groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
In the 1970's Baudisch introduced the idea of the semifree group, that is, a group in which the only relators are commutators of generators. Baudisch was mainly concerned with subgroup problems, employing length arguments on the elements of these groups.

Independent sets of maximum weight in apple-free graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present the first polynomial-time algorithm to solve the maximum weight independent set problem for apple-free graphs, which is a common generalization of several important classes where the problem can be solved efficiently, such as claw-free graphs,

A Class of Graphs of f-Class 1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
An f-coloring of a graph G is an edge-coloring of G such that each color appears at each vertex v ? V(G) at most f(v) times. The minimum number of colors needed to f-color G is called the f-chromatic index of G, and denoted by ?? f (G). Any simple graph G has f-chromatic index equal to Δ f (G) or Δ f (G) + 1, where $\Delta_{f}(G)=\max_{v\in V(G ...

Graph polynomials for a class of DI-pathological graphs [PDF]

open access: yesAKCE International Journal of Graphs and Combinatorics, 2020
Let be a simple graph. A dominating set is a set such that the closed neighborhood of is the entire vertex set. An independence set of a graph is a subset of vertices that are pairwise non-adjacent. A DI-pathological graph is a graph where every minimum dominating set intersects every maximal independent set. Let denote the number of dominating sets of

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Exploiting planarity in separation routines for the symmetric traveling salesman problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
At present, the most successful approach for solving large-scale instances of the Symmetric Traveling Salesman Problem to optimality is branch-and-cut.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The Existence of Path-Factor Covered Graphs

open access: yesDiscussiones Mathematicae Graph Theory, 2023
A spanning subgraph H of a graph G is called a P≥k-factor of G if every component of H is isomorphic to a path of order at least k, where k ≥ 2. A graph G is called a P≥k-factor covered graph if there is a P≥k-factor of G covering e for any e ∈ E(G).

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
