Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.

The C‐terminal truncated splicing variant of NK1R negatively modulates substance P‐stimulated NK1R signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The neurokinin 1 receptor exists as full‐length (NK1L) and C‐terminally truncated (NK1S) splice variants. We show that NK1S heterodimerizes with NK1L, impairing Gαq coupling and Ca2+ mobilization while enhancing β‐arrestin1 recruitment. NK1S suppresses substance P‐driven gene expression and cell migration, revealing NK1S as an endogenous biased ...

Genetic dissection of human ABCE1 in yeast reveals separable requirements for ribosome recycling and suppression of aberrant reinitiation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human ABCE1 cannot functionally replace its yeast ortholog. Yeast–human chimera analysis identified NBD1 as a major interspecies barrier. Genetic screening yielded hABCE1 revertants that rescue yeast viability but fail to suppress aberrant translation reinitiation in the 3′ UTR.

Comparative structural analysis of certain covalent organic frameworks through entropy and degree-based topological indices

open access: yesScientific Reports
Topological indices are graph invariants of the molecular graph that facilitate the study of structural characteristics pertaining to connectivity and shape.

Chaos and Entropy for Graph Maps

open access: yesTokyo Journal of Mathematics, 2004
It is well known that for any continuous map of a compact interval into itself, its chaoticity in the sense of Devaney is equivalent to its positive entropy. This fact holds also for maps of the circle. The author generalizes these results to graph maps. The author shows that the notions of positive entropy, chaos in the sense of Devaney and \(\omega\)-

Beta1 subunits enable fentanyl‐induced BK channel activation and opioid regulation of cerebral artery diameter

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
During the current opioid crisis, the majority of overdose deaths are attributed to ultra‐potent synthetic opioids, such as fentanyl. While fentanyl exerts its action via opioid receptors, we propose that potassium channels in the brain blood vessels may also sense fentanyl.

Graph-Theoretic Limits of Distributed Computation: Entropy, Eigenvalues, and Chromatic Numbers

open access: yesEntropy
We address the problem of the distributed computation of arbitrary functions of two correlated sources, X1 and X2, residing in two distributed source nodes, respectively.
