Splitting a large software system into smaller and more manageable units has become an important problem for many organizations. The basic structure of a software system is given by a directed graph with vertices representing the programs of the system ...

Exploiting structure to cope with NP-hard graph problems: Polynomial and exponential time exact algorithms [PDF]
An ideal algorithm for solving a particular problem always finds an optimal solution, finds such a solution for every possible instance, and finds it in polynomial time.

Matrix partitions of split graphs
Matrix partition problems generalize a number of natural graph partition problems, and have been studied for several standard graph classes. We prove that each matrix partition problem has only finitely many minimal obstructions for split graphs. Previously such a result was only known for the class of cographs.

Objective Knee osteoarthritis (OA) commonly affects individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and is associated with increased risk of diabetes‐related complications. To better understand potential mechanisms, we examined the association between symptomatic knee OA and glycemic control in individuals with T2DM.

Associations of Sleep and Shift Work With Osteoarthritis Risk
Objective Daily rhythms may be critical for maintaining homeostasis of joint tissues. We aimed to investigate the relationships among circadian clock disruption, sleep, and osteoarthritis (OA) risk in humans. Methods In the UK Biobank, a prospective 500,000–person cohort, we evaluated associations among sleep duration, sleeplessness/insomnia, and shift
