The Enzymatic Oxidation of Graphene Oxide [PDF]
Two-dimensional graphitic carbon is a new material with many emerging applications, and studying its chemical properties is an important goal. Here, we reported a new phenomenon--the enzymatic oxidation of a single layer of graphitic carbon by horseradish peroxidase (HRP).

Biocompatibility of Graphene Oxide [PDF]
AbstractHerein, we report the effects of graphene oxides on human fibroblast cells and mice with the aim of investigating graphene oxides' biocompatibility. The graphene oxides were prepared by the modified Hummers method and characterized by high-resolution transmission electron microscope and atomic force microscopy.

Optical spectroscopy and scanning force microscopy of small molecules intercalated within graphene and graphene oxide interfaces [PDF]

Oxidation of Graphene on Metals [PDF]
We use low-energy electron microscopy to investigate how graphene is removed from Ru(0001) and Ir(111) by reaction with oxygen. We find two mechanisms on Ru(0001). At short times, oxygen reacts with carbon monomers on the surrounding Ru surface, decreasing their concentration below the equilibrium value.

Superflexibility of graphene oxide [PDF]
SignificanceBending of a thin plate simultaneously involves contraction and stretching of matter relative to a neutral plane, and tensile rigidity dictates the ability of a thin platelet to be bent. If graphene or graphene oxide (GO) were actually behaving as thin platelets, they would display high bending rigidity.

Graphene and graphene oxide for desalination
There is a huge scope for graphene-based materials to be used as membranes for desalination. A very recent study has confirmed that 100% salt rejection can be achieved for commonly used ions by utilizing single layer nonporous graphene. However, the cost effective fabrication procedure for graphene oxide membranes with precise control of pore size can ...
