The semiotics of printed instructions (graphic signa)
This thesis sets out to describe sign systems for communication using Axiomatic Functionalism as its theoretical framework. In doing so, the thesis also provides an important test to the claim of Axiomatic Functionalism that by using its premisses ...

GPGL: a model interactive, general purpose graphic language. [PDF]
General Purpose Graphic Language (GPGL) is an interactive language which is intended for both two-dimensional and three-dimensional displays. The thesis contains a survey of the attributes and capabilities of an interactive general purpose graphic ...

Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Generation of graphic language-oriented design environments [PDF]
We review some results in the area of using meta techniques to generate language-oriented programming environments. We focus on environments for languages having a two-dimensional syntax based on attribute grammars and constraints.

Hierarchical multi‐material TPMS lattices are engineered as flexible tactile sensors by combining soft and stiff elastomeric layers with a conformal conductive coating. The bilayer architecture delivers sensitivity at low pressures while maintaining a broad detectable range under large loads, enabling reliable pressure and vibration monitoring for ...

SGL: A Structured Graphics Language
This paper introduces SGL, a graphics language that is aesthetically similar to SQL. SGL is based on traditional grammars of graphics, as well as Vega-Lite's composition algebra. SGL demonstrates that the grammatical approach to graphics lends itself naturally to a SQL-like language.

An automation interface for environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) enables simultaneous, interlaced data sets via frame‐by‐frame parameter changes. Demonstrated on oscillatory hydrogen oxidation over cobalt (Co) foil, dual‐magnification imaging bridges mesoscopic to microscopic length scales, capturing alternating views of surface dynamics ...

A flexible pressure sensor utilizing a 3D dual‐pore polyurethane structure is developed to overcome the intrinsic trade‐off between sensitivity and linearity. By inducing sequential buckling through distinct pore sizes and shapes, the device achieves highly linear and sensitive responses across a wide pressure range.
