Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Generating Adaptive and Non-Adaptive Test Interfaces for Multidimensional Item Response Theory Applications

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2016
Computerized adaptive testing (CAT) is a powerful technique to help improve measurement precision and reduce the total number of items required in educational, psychological, and medical tests.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Visual Stimuli Impacts on Students’ Creativity [PDF]

open access: yesصفه, 2016
Design could be defined as an iterative process of manipulating graphical representations to generate creative ideas. As such, a graphical representation plays the role of visual stimulus for creativity in architectural education.

GFD: An R Package for the Analysis of General Factorial Designs

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2017
Factorial designs are widely used tools for modeling statistical experiments in all kinds of disciplines, e.g., biology, psychology, econometrics and medicine. For testing null hypotheses in this framework, ANOVA methods are widely used.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Linear mixed-effects models for within-participant psychology experiments: an introductory tutorial and free, graphical user interface (LMMgui)

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
Linear mixed-effects models (LMMs) are increasingly being used for data analysis in cognitive neuroscience and experimental psychology, where within-participant designs are common.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Optimal designs for estimating critical effective dose under model uncertainty in a dose response study [PDF]

open access: yes
Toxicologists have been increasingly using a class of models to describe a continuous response in the last few years. This class consists of nested nonlinear models and is used for estimating various parameters in the models or some meaningful function ...

Graphic Design

open access: yesConvergences - Journal of Research and Arts Education
In the genesis of his existence, man had an experiential need to explore the world around and to communicate with his fellows in order to survive and continue the kin. The need for social connections provoked the development and improvement of verbal and non-verbal communication. All the knowledge of humanity is transmitted and stored through language,
