Graphical Partitions and Graphical Relations

Fundamenta Informaticae, 2019
We generalize the well-known correspondence between partitions and equivalence relations on a set to the case of graphs and hypergraphs. This is motivated by the role that partitions and equivalence relations play in Rough Set Theory and the results provide some of the foundations needed to develop a theory of rough graphs.

Graphic design for computer graphics

Computers in Industry, 1983
Abstract Because computer graphics systems are capable of sophisticated displays of typography, symbols, color, spatial organization, and temporal sequencing, it is appropriate to seek principles for designing effective communication from the discipline of graphic design whose expertise lies in programming visible language.

Smart Graphics/Intelligent Graphics

Informatik-Spektrum, 2014
Uberblick und Entwicklung ,,Intelligent Graphics is about visually representing the world and visually representing our ideas. Artificial intelligence is about symbolically representing the world, and symbolically representing our ideas. And between the visual and the symbolic, between the concrete and the abstract, there should be no boundary.“Henry ...

Graphic Pathogeographies

Journal of Medical Humanities, 2014
This paper focuses on the graphic pathogeographies in David B.'s Epileptic and David Small's Stitches: A Memoir to highlight the significance of geographic concepts in graphic novels of health and disease. Despite its importance in such works, few scholars have examined the role of geography in their narrative and structure. I examine the role of place

Getting to the “graphics” in a graphics exercise

ACM SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics, 1991
An "algorithms" course in Computer Graphics relies heavily upon programming exercises to teach students the intricacies of graphics techniques. Such exercises should be substantial enough to avoid "trivializing" the problem and, at the same time, be interesting to the student.

Graphics packages for teaching graphics

ACM SIGCSE Bulletin, 1986
The design and implementation of graphics packages has been widely studied and discussed. The special needs of the teaching environment change the requirements of a package in some interesting ways because the details usually hidden from the user are of interest to the students. Here the design of such a package is considered.

Graphical Models

1996
Abstract The idea of modelling systems using graph theory has its origin in several scientific areas: in statistical physics (the study of large particle systems), in genetics (studying inheritable properties of natural species), and in interactions in contingency tables.

Mobile Graphics

IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, 2008
Mobile phones form a ubiquitous graphics platform; over half of the world population uses them. This special issue presents solutions that overcome some of the inherent limitations of these compact computing devices and make use of the fact that they are available at all times, not just at your desk.

Graphics processing on a graphics supercomputer

IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, 1989
A description is given of the Titan Graphics Supercomputer. The primary design philosophy was to have as little redundant hardware as possible and to make as much of the hardware available to compiled application code as possible. This led to a design with multiple parallel processors, each with an integer unit and a vector floating-point unit.
