Software architecture for graphical interaction

IBM Systems Journal, 1980
Pointing at items on a graphics display is one of the most useful methods of interacting with a system graphically. This paper examines existing graphical support and lists requirements for high-level support of graphical interaction. The architecture of a prototype system with high-level support for graphical interaction is presented.

Graphically speaking: Graphics software for non‐artists

Library Hi Tech, 1994
Most computer users need graphics once in a while, even text‐oriented people like the author. While there have always been many different tools for manipulating and creating graphics on DOS computers (and better ones for Macs), Windows has made such tools more common, less expensive, easier to use, and much more powerful.

Software aspects of business graphics

Computers & Graphics, 1983
Abstract This paper considers some software and technical issues involved in the production of high quality three dimensional business graphics. It considers whether to use the vector or raster mode, the location or generation of source materials such as type fonts and geographic maps, existing 3-D plotting programs, and some technical issues in the ...

A GRAPHICAL TOOL FOR DESIGN PORTABLE AUTOMATION SOFTWARE [PDF]

open access: possibleIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006
Abstract UniSim is a graphical tool which can be used to avoid the choice of a specific commercial platform when teaching the IEC 61131-3 standard for programmable logic controllers. UniSim allows to develop automation software which is fully compliant with the standard, and to validate it via simulation.

Software for graphic display systems

Computer Physics Communications, 1978
Abstract In this paper some aspects of graphic display systems are discussed. The design of a display subroutine library is described, with an example, and graphic dialogue software is considered primarily from the point of view of the programmer who uses a high-level language.

TASC Graphics Software Package. [PDF]

open access: possible, 1982
Abstract : The interactive TASC Graphics Software Package (TGSP), developed at TASC, is based on NCAR Graphics Software. The basic NCAR Graphics Software has been extensively modified to allow for interactive color graphics. Many enhancements have also been made to meet the needs of the Weapons Support System (WSS).

Software for Satellite Graphics

1971
This paper is in three parts, the first comments on the size of satellite graphic configurations, the second on the software problems of effecting a link between two computers, while the last describes a software system designed for use with satellite displays. This system is currently being implemented by Marconi-Elliott Computer Systems Ltd., under A.

Computer Graphics Software Techniques

1969
The first step in programming display equipment, in order to produce a picture on the screen, is to generate a stream of binary words. These form a series of commands to the display; each command causing the display to carry out one of its functions, such as: to position the beam; to move it linearly painting a line; or to produce a character ...

Software Systems for Computer Graphics

Computer, 1976
This paper describes some software packages and programming systems for computer graphics applications, in the process considering software features for both passive and interactive graphics. It examines the structure both of subroutine libraries for use with some base language and of complete programming languages, and outlines the advantages and ...

Formal specification of graphical notations and graphical software tools [PDF]

open access: possible, 2006
The paper describes a meta language, called PSN (picture specification notation), for the specification of graphical notations in software engineering, and outlines the software tool building system for which it was designed. The latter is based on a prototype system which facilitated the rapid production of tools for processing textual notations ...
