Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Solving the Large-Scale TSP Problem in 1 h: Santa Claus Challenge 2020

open access: yesFrontiers in Robotics and AI, 2021
The scalability of traveling salesperson problem (TSP) algorithms for handling large-scale problem instances has been an open problem for a long time. We arranged a so-called Santa Claus challenge and invited people to submit their algorithms to solve a ...

Embedding Graphs into Embedded Graphs [PDF]

open access: yesAlgorithmica, 2020
A (possibly denerate) drawing of a graph $G$ in the plane is approximable by an embedding if it can be turned into an embedding by an arbitrarily small perturbation. We show that testing, whether a straight-line drawing of a planar graph $G$ in the plane is approximable by an embedding, can be carried out in polynomial time, if a desired embedding of ...

Biclique Graphs of K3-free Graphs and Bipartite Graphs

open access: yesProcedia Computer Science, 2021
A biclique of a graph is a maximal complete bipartite subgraph. The biclique graph of a graph $G$, $KB(G)$, defined as the intersection graph of the bicliques of $G$, was introduced and characterized in 2010. However, this characterization does not lead to polynomial time recognition algorithms.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Temporal Graph Traversals Using Reinforcement Learning With Proximal Policy Optimization

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Graphs in real-world applications are dynamic both in terms of structures and inputs. Information discovery in such networks, which present dense and deeply connected patterns locally and sparsity globally can be time consuming and computationally costly.

Algorithms and Conditional Lower Bounds for Planning Problems

open access: yes, 2018
We consider planning problems for graphs, Markov decision processes (MDPs), and games on graphs. While graphs represent the most basic planning model, MDPs represent interaction with nature and games on graphs represent interaction with an adversarial ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Decision Support for Optimal Repositioning of Containers in a Feeder System

open access: yesPromet (Zagreb), 2008
The transport of empty containers represents a seriousproblem in the fast growing sphere of maritime container transport. The most widespread type of container transport organizationin maritime transport is the hub and spoke mode, whichenables the ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.
