Summer Annual Variety Trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Warm season grasses, such as sorghum x sudangrass crosses, sudangrass, and millet are high-yielding annuals that can provide quality forage in the hot summer months, when the cool season grasses that make up most pastures and hay meadows in the Northeast

Seasonal priority effects: Implications for invasion and restoration in California coastal sage scrub [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Competition from exotic annual grasses (EAGs) threatens native plant communities in California. Coastal sage scrub communities have substantially diminished in area over the last century, in some instances by greater than 90%, while EAGs continue to ...

Long‐Term Active Rather than Passive Restoration Promotes Soil Organic Carbon Accumulation by Alleviating Microbial Nitrogen Limitation in an Extremely Degraded Alpine Grassland

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Active restoration increases soil organic carbon stocks by reducing microbial nitrogen limitation. Nitrogen availability promotes particulate to mineral‐associated organic carbon conversion by reducing microbial carbon use efficiency. Passive restoration has no effect on soil organic carbon stocks.

Transplantation of GABAergic Interneuron Progenitors Restores Cortical Circuit Function in an Alzheimer's Disease Mouse Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Transplantation of medial ganglionic eminence (MGE) interneuron progenitors into APP/PS1 cortices restored the slow oscillation characteristic of Alzheimer's disease. Donor cells survived, migrated, and matured into functional GABAergic interneurons, forming synaptic connections.

Multivariate Analysis of the Bioclimatic and Soil Determinants That Model the Distribution of Bidens pilosa L. in Veracruz, Mexico

open access: yesGrasses
Bidens pilosa L. is a cosmopolitan and invasive weed that strongly impacts agricultural systems in tropical regions. In Veracruz, Mexico, its presence extends mainly across mid-elevation zones where coffee, maize, and sugarcane are cultivated. This study

Notch2 Directs aTreg Cell Fate toward Immunoregulation or Inflammatory Pyroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration showing that the Notch2 intracellular domain (NICD2) facilitates pyroptosis resistance in activated Tregs through the RREB1/Foxo1 signaling pathway. In addition, Notch2‐mediated pyroptosis resistance in activated Tregs promotes immunoregulatory capacity, thereby attenuating Th2‐driven inflammatory responses in allergic rhinitis ...
