Grassland degradation in the Western of Songnen plain
2011 19th International Conference on Geoinformatics, 2011Based on RS and GIS techniques, three-period (1986, 1995, 2000) remote sensing images are interpreted in order to gain spatial information about grassland landscape in the Western of Songnen plain, then spatial-temporal dynamics of grassland and the natural, human factor of grassland degradation are analyzed.

Alpine grassland degradation in the Qilian Mountains, China — A case study in Damaying Grassland
Catena, 2016Abstract Degradation of semiarid grassland and efforts to control that degradation have become pressing issues. However, the inherent characteristics of the grassland and the intertemporal nature of the problem complicate the analysis of degradation issues, and consequently, the search for more appropriate rangeland policies.

Research Progress of the Grassland Carbon Cycle and Grassland Degradation in China
2019Grasslands, one of the most common vegetation types in the world, account for nearly 20% of the global land surface. The vast land cover and carbon sequestration potential make it become the important composition of the terrestrial carbon cycle. In China, grasslands mainly locate in the arid and semi-arid areas in the northwest and the Tibetan Plateau ...

A device for mechanical remediation of degraded grasslands
Soil and Tillage Research, 2012Abstract Conventional tillage practices are traditional methods to restore the degraded grasslands. However, the risk of wind and water erosion increases dramatically. To remedy these degraded grasslands and conserve soil and water, a rotary cutting mechanism named soil-gashing and root-cutting device was designed and tested in typical degraded ...

Current status of grassland degradation and measures for grassland restoration in northern China
Chinese Science Bulletin, 2018Grasslands in northern China are traditionally important bases for livestock production and ecological barriers for China. However, these grasslands degraded extensively due to global climatic change and poor management during the past half century. Such grassland degradation leads to dramatic declines in multiple ecosystem functions.

Grassland ecosystems play an important role in the global terrestrial silicon (Si) cycle, and Si is a beneficial element and structural constituent for the growth of grasses. In previous decades, grasslands have been degraded to different degrees because of the drying climate and intense human disturbance.
