This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

A modal model for diffraction gratings [PDF]
A description of an algorithm for a rather general modal grating calculation is presented. Arbitrary profiles, depth, and permittivity are allowed. Gratings built up from sub-gratings are allowed, as are coatings on the sidewalls of lines, and arbitrary complex structure. Conical angles and good conductors are supported.

Improved 8-channel silicon mode demultiplexer with grating polarizers.
An improved 8-channel silicon mode demultiplexer is realized with TE-type and TM-type grating polarizers at the output ends, and these gratings serve as fiber-chip couplers simultaneously. The present 8-channel silicon mode demultiplexer includes a three-

Graphene‐based materials are attracting considerable interest for biomedical applications. Analysis of their biocompatibility is required before their clinical translation, and swine represents an excellent close‐to‐human model. This study evaluates the toxicological and immunological impact of pristine graphene and graphene oxide through a compendium ...

Perovskite Light‐Emitting Diodes with Quantum Wires and Nanorods
This review focuses on low‐dimensional perovskite materials and discusses their applications in light‐emitting diodes (LEDs). Special attention is given to the introduction of perovskite quantum wires and nanorods, two unique types of one‐dimensional (1D) materials, and their interesting optoelectronic properties.

As defect density in 3D perovskites is controlled by adjusting excess formamidinium iodide concentration, shallow defects acts as a carrier sink for amplified spontaneous emission (ASE). A comprehensive charge carrier dynamic model is presented to understand the critical factor of the reduction of ASE threshold.

Higher dispersion and efficiency Bragg gratings for optical spectroscopy [PDF]
Massively multiplexed spectroscopic stellar surveys such as MSE present enormous challenges in the spectrograph design. The combination of high multiplex, large telescope aperture, high resolution (R~40,000) and natural seeing implies that multiple spectrographs with large beam sizes, large grating angles, and fast camera speeds are required, with high

Bragg-Grating Enhanced Narrow-Band Spontaneous Parametric Down Conversion [PDF]
We propose a new method to narrow the linewidth of entangled photons generated from spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC). An internal Bragg grating is incorporated onto a nonlinear optical crystal waveguide. We study theoretically the spectral characteristics of SPDC under two Bragg grating structures. We show that using the Bragg grating with

Silicon mode multi/demultiplexer based on multimode grating-assisted couplers.
A simple and low-crosstalk 1 × 4 silicon mode (de)multiplexer based on multimode grating-assisted-couplers is proposed. Mode transitions can be flexibly controlled by designing the grating period at the phase-matching condition.
