Distributed delay-line interferometer based on a Bragg grating in transmission mode [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
A novel approach for a delay line interferometer (DLI) based purely on forward Bragg scattering is proposed. We have numerically and experimentally demonstrated that a Bragg grating can deliver the functionality of a DLI in its transmission mode along a single common interfering optical path, instead of the conventional DLI implementation with two ...

Van Der Waals Hybrid Integration of 2D Semimetals for Broadband Photodetection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Advanced broadband photodetector technologies are essential for military and civilian applications. 2D semimetals, with their gapless band structures, high mobility, and topological protection, offer great promise for broadband PDs. This study reviews the latest advancements in broadband PDs utilizing heterostructures that combine 2D semimetals with ...

Grating Couplers for Coupling between Optical Fibers and Nanophotonic Waveguides

open access: yes, 2006
Nanophotonic waveguides and components are promising for use in the large-scale integration of photonic circuits. Coupling light between nanophotonic waveguides and a single-mode fiber is an important problem and many different solutions have been ...

CMOS-compatible high efficiency double-etched apodized waveguide grating coupler.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
We present a high efficiency double-etched apodized fiber-to-waveguide grating coupler on a silicon-on-insulator substrate, which can be fabricated using deep UV photolithography. The fabricated grating coupler yields a coupling loss of -1.5 dB with 3-dB

Thermal Processing Creates Water‐Stable PEDOT:PSS Films for Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
Instead of using chemical cross–linkers, it is shown that PEDOT:PSS thin films for bioelectronics become water‐stable after a simple heat treatment. The heat treatment is compatible with a range of rigid and elastomeric substrates and films are stable in vivo for >20 days.

Long period fiber gratings induced by mechanical resonance [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We present a simple, and robust method for writing long period fiber gratings with low polarization dependent losses. Our method is based on utilizing mechanical vibrations of the tapered fiber while pooling it. Our method enables real-time tunability of the periodicity, efficiency and length of the grating.
