Annual survival and resource selection of juvenile male wild turkeys in central Tennessee
Juvenile male wild turkeys in central Tennessee, USA, selected areas with smaller patch sizes and lower proportions of developed land. Annual survival was 0.73 and decreased as dense land cover such as young and deciduous forest increased and cover types with high visibility decreased. Abstract Documenting juvenile male wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo)

Liquefaction and Settlement of Reclaimed Ground with Gravelly Decomposed Granite Soil
ABSTRACT Liquefaction and settlement of reclaimed ground with gravelly decomposed granite soil, which had liquefied during the 1995 Hyogo-ken Nambu earthquake, was studied by a centrifuge model test using in situ soil material and the earthquake record. Three ground models used for the centrifuge test were made with different particle size ranges: 1)

ABSTRACT Terraced fields and the Gully Land Reclamation Project (GLRP) are important soil and water conservation measures, widely constructed in China's Loess Plateau and other ecologically fragile areas in the world. However, under large‐scale governance scenarios, the impacts of the “terraced fields‐GLRP” cascade system on water and sediment ...

ABSTRACT Cropland distribution is often shaped by historical cultivation patterns rather than natural suitability, leading to mismatches between actual land use and agricultural production potential. However, their extent and spatial characteristics remain insufficiently understood in the North China Plain, one of China's most important grain‐producing

ABSTRACT Lateral carbon transport induced by soil erosion is a key component of the global carbon cycle. Over the past 50 years, ecological restoration projects in the Loess Plateau of China have increased vegetation coverage. However, the effects of land use, precipitation variability, and landscape factors on lateral carbon transport remain unclear ...

ABSTRACT Afforestation in the desert–oasis ecotone induces soil desiccation and secondary salinization. However, the seasonal dynamics of soil water–heat–salt interactions across plantations of different stand ages in arid regions remain unclear. Here, we investigated the seasonal patterns and coupled relationships of soil water–heat–salt dynamics in ...

ABSTRACT Subalpine meadows play important roles in biodiversity conservation and soil carbon sequestration, but gully erosion poses a serious threat to their ecological stability. Soil shear strength (τ) is a key mechanical parameter for evaluating gully stability and soil resistance to failure. However, the spatial variation in soil shear strength and

ABSTRACT Soil nutrient depletion severely constrains crop productivity in degraded and saline environments. Strategies such as biochar–compost integration could be useful for sustainable agriculture and land restoration on a global scale. This study evaluated the effects of biochar (1% Bc), compost (1% Co), and their blends (0.5% Bc + 0.5% Co and 1% Bc
