Covariantising the Beltrami equation in W-gravity [PDF]

open access: yesLetters in Mathematical Physics, 1996
Recently, certain higher dimensional complex manifolds were obtained in [hep-th/9412078] by associating a higher dimensional uniformisation to the generalised Teichmüller spaces of Hitchin. The extra dimensions are provided by the ``times'' of the generalised KdV hierarchy. In this paper, we complete the proof that these manifolds provide the analog of

Structural gravity equations with intensive and extensive margins [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Economics/Revue canadienne d'économique, 2010
Abstract Recent trade models with heterogeneous firms have changed the interpretation of gravity equations. Chaney (2008) shows that the effect of distance on the number of exporters and average exports depends on key parameters characterizing the elements of market structure.

Pickering‐Engineered Microparticles for Magnetically Guided Motion and Light‐Triggered Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetically responsive wax microparticles stabilized by hematite cubes through the Pickering emulsification strategy are developed, showing controlled size, motion, and light‐activated catalytic activity. Annealing under a magnetic field enhances their mobility and steering.

Nambu-Goto equation from three-dimensional gravity

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We demonstrate that the solutions of three-dimensional gravity obtained by gluing two copies of a spacetime across a junction constituted of a tensile string are in one-to-one correspondence with the solutions of the Nambu-Goto equation in the same ...

Vorticity‐Driven µ‐Platelet Rotation and Selective Packing for Vertical Thermal–Electrical Interconnects

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a capillary‐filtering‐based particle‐filling (CFPF) process that simultaneously forms vertical thermal pathways and electrical vias within µ‐pores. In situ microfluidic analysis reveals that capillary‐driven velocity gradients generate vorticity that governs µ‐platelet rotation and vertical alignment.

International trade and monopolistic competition without CES : estimating translog gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper derives a micro-founded gravity equation in general equilibrium based on a translog demand system that allows for endogenous markups and rich substitution patterns across goods.

O nordeste e o comércio inter-regional e internacional: um teste dos impactos por meio do modelo gravitacional

open access: yesEconomia Aplicada, 1998
This article discusses the trade flow from the Northeast to the others regions of Brazil and to the others countries of the world, using the gravity equation as the theoretical support.

Gravity Chains: Estimating bilateral trade flows when parts and components trade is important

open access: yesJournal of Banking and Financial Economics, 2014
Trade is measured on a gross sales basis while GDP is measured on a net sales basis, i.e. value added. The rapid internationalisation of production in the last two decades has meant that gross trade flows are increasingly unrepresentative of the value ...

Spatially Decoupling Heating and Evaporation for Convection‐Enhanced 3D Solar Evaporation With Continuous Salt Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An architecture‐enabled bottom‐heated 3D solar convective evaporator spatially decouples photothermal heating from evaporation, triggering natural convection that intensifies sidewall vapour removal and heat transfer. The system achieves significantly enhanced evaporation rates over 2D and conventional 3D designs while confining salt precipitation to ...

Lunin-Maldacena backgrounds from the classical Yang-Baxter equation - Towards the gravity/CYBE correspondence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We consider γ-deformations of the AdS5×S5 superstring as Yang-Baxter sigma models with classical r-matrices satisfying the classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE).
