It is shown that, for floated satellite gravity gradiometers subject to very low levels of unmodeled forces and torques, dynamic estimation can dramatically reduce rotation correction errors. The filter structure is developed, and the value of factorization techniques is examined.

Modeling gravity gradient data for gravity gradient aided navigation system
2012 Third International Conference on Intelligent Control and Information Processing, 2012Nowadays, a completely self contained, passive navigation system that relies on gravity gradient instrument for INS aiding within non-GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) environments has been widespread concern. In order to research this system, a high accuracy and resolution gravity gradient data is what you should first gain. This paper presents

Gravity gradient modeling using gravity and DEM
Journal of Geodesy, 2008A model of the gravity gradient tensor at aircraft altitude is developed from the combination of ground gravity anomaly data and a digital elevation model. The gravity data are processed according to various operational solutions to the boundary-value problem (numerical integration of Stokes’ integral, radial-basis splines, and least-squares ...

Understanding gravity gradients
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2005, 2005Summary: Gravity gradients often produce a complex pattern of anomalies over their sources. To understand this pattern and to aid in the interpretation of measured gravity gradient data, gravity gradient components of the full gradient tensor are computed starting with the basic gravitational potential, followed by computing the first derivatives and ...

Processing gravity gradient data
GEOPHYSICS, 2011As the demand for high-resolution gravity gradient data increases and surveys are undertaken over larger areas, new challenges for data processing have emerged. In the case of full-tensor gradiometry, the processor is faced with multiple derivative measurements of the gravity field with useful signal content down to a few hundred meters’ wavelength ...

Gravity-induced gradients in critical mixtures
Optics Communications, 1976Abstract We report experimental measurement of gravitationally induced concentration gradients in a binary critical mixture. Measurements are performed for the first time with a non-perturbative optical technique upon entire size of the cell. In this way, both the shape of the gradients as a function of the height and their time evolution can be ...

Improved nullification of gravity gradients
Physical Review D, 1987A scheme due to Forward for canceling out gravity tides in a space laboratory is improved upon. It is shown how fourth-order terms in the potential can be eliminated by using eight masses instead of six. Even more economical compensation is obtained by using an ellipsoidal shell. The region of nullification then extends throughout the interior.

Vertical resolution: Gravity versus vertical gravity gradient
The Leading Edge, 2001Can gravity really detect a 200-m throw fault at a depth of 3000 m? Such a question may be frequently asked when we interpret gravity data. At present, with gravity gradiometry available and the exploration activity in areas such as the Gulf of Mexico, another parallel question is raised.

Integrated gravity and gravity gradient 3D inversion using the non-linear conjugate gradient
Journal of Applied Geophysics, 2016Abstract Gravity data, which are critical in mineral, oil, and gas exploration, are obtained from the vertical component of the gravity field, while gravity gradient data are measured from changes in the gravity field in three directions. However, few studies have sought to improve exploration techniques by integrating gravity and gravity gradient ...
