Gravitational waves in conformal gravity

open access: yes, 2018
We consider the gravitational radiation in conformal gravity theory. We perturb the metric from flat Mikowski space and obtain the wave equation after introducing the appropriate transformation for perturbation.

Conformable Microelectrode Arrays Integrated with a Scoop‐Shaped Slide‐Well for Dynamic Electrophysiological Profiling of Patient‐Derived Cardiac Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A flexible, ultrathin multi‐channel microelectrode array (MEA) conformally integrated onto a curved slide‐well enables stable electrical interfacing with 3D cardiac organoids. The geometry‐guided self‐alignment allows simultaneous recording of extracellular field potentials and contractile motion from irregular, beating tissues.

Detection of standing internal gravity waves in experiments with convection over a wavy heated wall

open access: yes, 2020
Convection over a wavy heated bottom wall in the air flow has been studied in experiments with the Rayleigh number $\sim 10^8$. It is shown that the mean temperature gradient in the flow core inside a large-scale circulation is directed upward, that ...

Evidence of a saturated gravity-wave spectrum throughout the atmosphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
The view adapted here is that the dominant mesoscale motions are due to internal gravity waves and show that previous and new vertical wave number spectra of horizontal winds are consistent with the notion of a saturation limit on wave amplitudes.

A Decisive test to confirm or rule out the existence of dark matter emulators using gravitational wave observations

open access: yes, 2008
We consider stable modified theories of gravity that reproduce galactic rotation curves and the observed amount of weak lensing without dark matter. In any such model gravity waves follow a different geodesic from that of other massless particles.

In Situ Characterisation of Hydrogels via Dynamic Interface Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogels have become pivotal materials for tissue engineering, robotics, biomedical devices, and sensing applications due to their diverse material compositions and tunable mechanical properties. While significant effort has focused on developing novel manufacturing approaches such as extrusion bioprinting and light‐based fabrication methods,

Freely decaying weak turbulence for sea surface gravity waves

open access: yes, 2002
We study numerically the generation of power laws in the framework of weak turbulence theory for surface gravity waves in deep water. Starting from a random wave field, we let the system evolve numerically according to the nonlinear Euler equations for ...

Photon‐Sphere Modes in Curved Optical Microcavities: A Black‐Hole Analogue Laser

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An optical analogue of a Schwarzschild black hole is realized using curved microcavities that preserve light‐like geodesics. A new family of laser modes confined around the photon sphere is identified alongside conventional whispering‐gallery modes. Analytical theory, numerical simulations, and experiments reveal curvature‐induced confinement, enabling

Gravitational waves astronomy: the ultimate test for Einstein's General Relativity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
It is well known that Einstein's General Relativity (GR) achieved a great success and overcame lots of experimental tests. On the other hand, GR also showed some shortcomings and flaws which today advise theorists to ask if it is the definitive theory of
