Characterization of Fatty Acid Profiles and Nutritional Quality Indices in Commercial Spreadable Processed Cheeses: Comparative Analysis and Health Implications

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Natural processed cheeses showed a more favorable nutritional profile, including higher unsaturated fatty acids and better functional performance. A balanced fatty acid composition was identified as a key factor influencing meltability, oil separation, and overall quality of processed cheeses.

Considerations on the lubrication of spacecraft mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Space tribology and a number of precepts to guide designers in its application are discussed. Of the many techniques available all, without exception, have limitations in performance.

PFAS properties and destruction methods: A focus on enzymatic degradation

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract Per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are known as ‘forever’ chemicals and have lasting detrimental impact on the environment and living organisms. To understand PFAS molecules better, this review begins with an overview of PFAS definition, classifications and applications, and then provides a comprehensive summary and critical analysis ...

Effect of Grease Lubrication on the Nonrepetitive Runout (NRRO) in Ball Bearing

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2008
Nonrepetitive runout (NRRO) is mainly caused by the diameter differences of balls contained in a bearing and the form errors of the raceway and balls. This paper deals with the effect of grease lubrication on NRRO.

Recycling of Mill Scale Into High‐Purity Iron Through Hydrogen‐Based Reduction

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Mill scale, an iron oxide–rich steel by‐product, is difficult to recycle due to impurities. This study evaluates hydrogen‐based direct reduction and hydrogen plasma smelting reduction as low‐carbon recycling routes. Impurity segregation limits reduction kinetics. Direct reduction achieves 92% conversion in 180 min, while plasma reduction reaches 91% in

Empirical Physics‐Based Normal Behavior Modeling of Drive Train Temperatures With High‐Resolution Wind Turbine Operating Data

open access: yesWind Energy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The installed wind energy capacity increases every year. However, operation and maintenance costs still make up a considerable portion of the levelized costs of electricity. This costs can be greatly reduced by the application of suitable early fault detection methods. The supervisory control and data acquisition system of wind turbines is one

Lubrication Performance Analysis of RV Reducer Cycloid Tooth Profile Modification

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2020
With the consideration of the thermal effect and piezo-viscous characteristic of lubricants, the numerical model of line contact elastohydrodynamic grease lubrication between cycloid gear and pin wheel is established, and the fully numerical solution of ...

Numerical Visualization of Grease Flow in a Gearbox

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2023
Lubricating greases are widely used in e.g. open gear drives and gearboxes with difficult sealing conditions. The efficiency and heat balance of grease-lubricated gearboxes depend strongly on the lubrication mechanisms channeling and circulating, for ...

Film thickness in a ball-on-disc contact lubricated with greases, bleed oils and base oils [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Three different lubricating greases and their bleed and base oils were compared in terms of film thickness in a ball-on-disc test rig through optical interferometry. The theoretical values calculated according to Hamrock's equation are in close agreement

The hidden science of haptics: A pedagogical review of tactile evaluation in cosmetics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
This review explores the physiological basis of tactile perception and critically examines classical and emerging sensory methods used in cosmetics, advocating for broader methodological integration and recognition of sensory analysis in the field. Abstract Sensory analysis is a cornerstone of cosmetic development, yet remains underrepresented in peer ...
