ツマグロヨバコイ成虫のイネに対する口針挿入は,室内飼育のもので通常1昼夜に30∼50回であるが,羽化後2∼3日間は一般に少ない。雌雄間にあまり差はないが,雄がやや少ない傾向がみられる。口針挿入頻度と温度は密接な関係があり,低温では低いが,高温になるにしたがい増加し,30°C付近で最高に達する。気圧とは逆の関係がみられる。室内飼育のものに比べて野外から採集してきたものは口針の挿入頻度が高い傾向があり,特にスズメノテッポウ草生地から採集してきたものはこの傾向が強い。スズメノテッポウを与えると挿入頻度は高まる。胚乳を除去した栄養の悪い芽出し苗を与えても,正常な苗で飼育したものと挿入頻度に差がみられなかった。口針挿入行動(摂食行動)の日周変動をみると,普通午前中は口針を挿入したままで静止するものが多く ...
