Greenhouse Gas Removal: Overview and Current Status of Deployment

2022
Greenhouse gas removal (GGR) plays an increasingly important role in meeting the climate goals of keeping the global temperature rise below 2 °C above that of the preindustrial era. There are many GGR methods which can achieve negative emissions, each with their own advantages and drawbacks. This overview chapter provides insight into the challenges of

Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Removals in Hungary

1996
This paper presents an interim report on Hungarian greenhouse gas emissions, completed within the framework of the U.S. Country Studies Program. Calculations are based on the IPCC Methodology. Hungary has chosen 1985–1987 as the base period for calculations of emissions rather than 1990, the recommended base year.

Greenhouse gas emission responses to sugarcane straw removal

Biomass and Bioenergy, 2018
Abstract Sugarcane straw has been identified as an important feedstock to increase bioenergy production. However, changes in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions due to straw removal are not yet understood. We hypothesized that partial straw removal changes decomposition rates and could change GHG fluxes.

Political and Socio-economic Challenges of Greenhouse Gas Removal Technologies

2022
While large-scale deployment of greenhouse gas removal (GGR) technologies is widely regarded as a prerequisite for meeting ambitious climate targets, upscaling efforts are obstructed by several socio-economic and political challenges. To a large extent, these issues are specific to each GGR approach, with the more mature options such as afforestation ...

Effects of topsoil removal on greenhouse gas exchange of fen paludicultures

2021
<p>Drainage is necessary for conventional agriculture on peatlands, but this practice causes high emissions of the greenhouse gases (GHG) carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide. Paludiculture is an option to mitigate these adverse environmental effects while maintaining productive land use.

Annual Greenhouse Gas Removal Estimates of Grassland Soil in Korea

Journal of The Korean Society of Grassland and Forage Science, 2015
The study was conducted to determine greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories in grasslands. After ‘Low Carbon Green Growth’ was declared a national vision on 2008, Medium-term greenhouse gas reduction was anticipated for 30% reduction compared to Business As Usual (BAU) by 2020. To achieve the reduction targets and prepare to enforce emissions trading (2015),

The Use of Off-Gas C02 in Greenhouses. Removal of NOx and Ethylene

1987
To stimulate crop growth the greenhouse atmosphere is enriched with carbon dioxide. Rich sources of it are available in the off-gases of the utilities of the greenhouse, but their use is limited due to the NOx being present. Selective removal of NOx was so far restricted to NH3. Based on a theory, presented earlier by the authors, it is made clear that
