AbstractThere are two weak points in the life cycle of greenhouse whiteflies within a growing season: 1. immigration from the fields into the greenhouses in autumn and 2. emigration from the greenhouses into the fields in spring. Any effort that aids in discontinuing the pest's life cycle on these two weak points will greatly reduce the pest's damage ...

Stylet penetration by larvae of the greenhouse whitefly on cucumber
Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, 1996AbstractProbing behaviour of Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood) larvae was monitored using the DC electrical penetration graph (EPG) technique on the host plant cucumber. EPGs were recorded for 16 h, simultaneously with honeydew excretion using a ‘honeydew clock’.

Inheritance of dicrotophos resistance in greenhouse whitefly
Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, 1995AbstractWe studied inheritance of resistance to dicrotophos in greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum Westwood (Homoptera, Aleyrodidae). Compared with females from a field‐collected susceptible strains (S), females from a resistant strain (R) of T. vaporariorum derived from heavily treated cotton fields had a 28‐fold greater LC50 to dicrotophos

Insecticidal Control of the Greenhouse Whitefly on Greenhouse Ornamental and Vegetable Plants13
Journal of Economic Entomology, 1974In a comparison of test materials for control of Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood), resmethrin was the most effective spray and controlled all stages but the eggs. Resmethrin mists and aerosols gave good control of whitefly adults and young nymphs in the winter, but were less effective in the warmer months. Azinphosmethyl, Dasanit® ( O,O -diethyl O -

Greenhouse Whitefly Control on Fushift, 1982
Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1984Abstract Five, 6-in pots containing five, 24-in Fushia shoots were heavily infested with the greenhouse whitefly. Each plot was randomly assigned to one of five treatments and the whiteflies were counted on the terminal five leaves of each shoot. Sprays were applied with a compressed air sprayer until the plants dripped.

GREENHOUSE WHITEFLY AS A PEST OF RHODODENDRONS (ERICACEAE)
Russian State Agrarian University-Moscow State Agricultural Academy named after K. A. Timiryazev,

Realized heritability of resistance to dicrotophos in greenhouse whitefly
Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, 1993AbstractRealized heritability (h2) of resistance to dicrotophos in greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum Westwood, was estimated from a laboratory selection experiment. Five generations of selection increased the LC50 approximately 13‐fold. Estimated h2 of resistance to dicrotophos was 0.40 when calculated with the method of Tabashnik (1992 ...

Integrated Control of the Greenhouse Whitefly on Cucumbers1
Journal of Economic Entomology, 1970Oxythioquinox was the only 1 of 5 chemicals recommended for control of Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood) which was not toxic to its chalcid parasite Encarsia Formosa Gahan. Oxythioquinox at 0.01 % killed 50% of whitefly adults, about 80% of the eggs, and also controlled cucumber powdery mildew.

Electrical recording and ultrastructure of stylet penetration by the greenhouse whitefly
Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, 1989AbstractEarlier studies have indicated that interior (physical and/or chemical) properties of a plant may be responsible for feeding‐site selection by the greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westw.). In order to study the process of feeding‐site selection further, stylet‐penetration activities and the pathway followed by the stylets in host‐

Effects of alternative pesticides on greenhouse whitefly in protected cultivation
Journal of Pest Science, 2008The greenhouse trials were conducted to determine the efficacy of environmentally safe insecticides/fungicides with physical mode of action [Agri-50E (propylene glycol alginate, hydrated) and SB Plant Invigorator] against Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood).
