The aphids, Myzus persicae (Sulzer) and Aphis gossypii (Glover) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) and the whiteflies, Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood) and Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) are the most damaging pests of greenhouse crops, which

ABSTRACT Many species of Mesostigmata soil mites have potential as biological control agents of pests/parasites. This study evaluated the predation potential of two of these species, Gamasellodes lavafesii (Ascidae) and Cosmolaelaps mediocuspis (Laelapidae).

ABSTRACT Cuticular waxes can form a hydrophobic barrier on aerial plant surfaces, which is essential for mediating plant‐environment interactions by providing protection against both biotic and abiotic stresses. In this study, a cuticular wax mutant (gl) was identified and characterised in Welsh onion (Allium fistulosum L.), exhibiting a functional ...

On-farm evaluation of integrated pest management of thrips and whiteflies in herb cuttings in Ethiopia : report to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development [PDF]
Integrated Pest Management reduces the use of chemicals and therewith the impact of greenhouse horticulture on the environment. It improves working conditions and enables access of Ethiopian products on the world market.

Biology of Macrolophus caliginosus (Heteroptera: Miridae) predator of Trialeurodes vaporium (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae) [PDF]
Macrolophus caliginosus Wagner (Heteroptera: Miridae) is a highly polyphagous predatory bug, which has proven to be effective in controlling many insect pests of greenhouse vegetables (eggplant, tomato, and cucumber) especially whiteflies, aphids, and ...

ABSTRACT Trap cropping is a pest management strategy where a grower plants an attractive “trap crop” alongside the primary crop to divert pests away from it. We propose a simple framework for optimizing the proportion of a grower's field or greenhouse allocated to a main crop and a trap crop to maximize agricultural yield.

Introduction: Whiteflies (Homoptera; Aleyrodidae) are the key pests of agricultural crops worldwide. Two species, which seriously damage crops, are the Silver leaf whitefly “Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius)” and the Greenhouse whitefly “Trialeorodes ...

Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus (ToLCNDV) causes significant yield and fruit quality losses in cucurbit crops, particularly in the Mediterranean region. We identified a new source of resistance to ToLCNDV in cucumber (accession ABS.PE.045) and mapped resistance to four genomic intervals in chromosomes 1, 2, 6, and 7.

Dicamba drift alters plant–herbivore interactions at the agro‐ecological interface
Natural populations evolve in response to biotic and abiotic changes in their environment, which shape species interactions and ecosystem dynamics.

Model selection and averaging in the estimation of population parameters of Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) from stage frequency data in sweet pepper plants [PDF]
Bemisia tabaci is a significant pest for many crops, but there are few population studies of this insect on sweet pepper ( Capsicum annuum). In this study, stage frequency data were generated with B.
