Parallel 3D Bioprinting on SLIPS‐Microarrays

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces the first truly parallel 3D bioprinting method, enabling both the simultaneous fabrication of hundreds of cell laden hydrogel 3D structures and their HTS in individual liquid compartments. By integrating Digital Light Processing (DLP) stereolithography with functional micropatterns, the platform decouples printing time from array ...

Distributed control of a fault tolerant modular multilevel inverter for direct-drive wind turbine grid interfacing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Modular generator and converter topologies are being pursued for large offshore wind turbines to achieve fault tolerance and high reliability. A centralized controller presents a single critical point of failure which has prevented a truly modular and ...

Disordered Carbon Shells Enable Shape Dependent Fluorescence Enhancement in Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors Revealed by Correlative TEM–Fluorescence Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Molten KNO2 treatment induces a lowrefractive index disordered carbon shell on fluorescent nanodiamonds, enhancing fluorescence emission while preserving spin coherence. Machine learningassisted correlative TEMPL enables direct single‐particle resolution of this enhancement relative to air‐oxidized nanodiamonds of similar morphology, establishing a ...

Performance Evaluation of Fuel Cell and Microturbine as Distributed Generators in a Microgrid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper presents dynamic models of distributed generators (DG) and investigates dynamic behaviour of the DG units within a microgrid system. The DG units include micro turbine, fuel cell and the electronically interfaced sources.

Halide‐Dependent Photoluminescence and Heavy‐Atom Effects in Low‐Melting Organic–Inorganic Manganese Halides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two pyridinium‐based ionic liquid templated hybrid manganese halides, (C4Py)2[MnCl4] and (C4Py)2[MnBr4], display similar bulk structures but show significantly different photoluminescence behaviors due to the bromine heavy‐atom effect. Their stable local Mn environments remain intact even in the molten state, allowing applications such as luminescence ...

Protection in Inverter-Dominated Grids: Fault Behavior of Grid-Following vs. Grid-Forming Inverters and Mixed Architectures—A Review

open access: yesEnergies
The rapid rise of inverter-based resources (IBRs) such as solar, wind, and battery energy storage is transforming power grids and creating new challenges for protection. Unlike synchronous generators, many IBRs are interfaced through grid-following (GFL)

BACH, a Bayesian Optimization Protocol for Accurate Coarse‐Grained Parameterization of Organic Liquids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully automated Bayesian optimization (BO) protocol for the parameterization of nonbonded interactions in coarse‐grain CG force fields (BACH). Using experimental thermophysical data, we apply the protocol to a broad range of liquids, spanning linear, branched, and unsaturated hydrocarbons, esters, triglycerides, and water.

Investigating Disturbance‐Induced Misoperation of Grid‐Following Inverter‐Based Resources

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution
ABSTRACT The rapid integration of grid‐following inverter‐based resources (GFL‐IBRs) has increased the importance of their dynamic behaviour during disturbances. Simultaneously, there are increasing number of reports about the misoperation or inadvertent disconnection of GFL‐IBRs during disturbances.

LL‐37 Driven Phase Transition and Stacking in Oligolamellar Gram‐Negative Bacterial Membrane Models

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work establishes oligolamellar bacterial membrane models to investigate how LL‐37 disrupts the complex dual‐bilayer architecture of Gram‐negative bacteria. Combining SAXS, cryo‐TEM, electrophoretic mobility measurements, and coarse‐grained simulations, it reveals cardiolipin‐driven phase transitions leading to bicelle‐like structures and membrane ...

Nonlinear Modeling and Identification of Doubly Fed Induction Machines Under Varying Grid Conditions

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Industrial Electronics Society
Historically, grid-connected synchronous machines have formed the grid voltage and frequency. Today, the high penetration of inverter-based resources poses challenges to grid stability, as conventional grid-following control methods do not provide grid ...
