Stochastic Optimization of Grid to Vehicle Frequency Regulation Capacity Bids
IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, 2014This paper investigates the application of stochastic dynamic programming to the optimization of charging and frequency regulation capacity bids of an electric vehicle (EV) in a smart electric grid environment. We formulate a Markov decision problem to minimize an EV's expected cost over a fixed charging horizon.

Diversity of transmission system operators for Grid Integrated Vehicles
11th International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM14), 2014A modular framework is used to analyze how Grid Integrated Vehicles (GIVs), i.e. bi-directional plug-in electric vehicles that are able to modulate their charging rate and have bi-directional capabilities, could be managed efficiently to deliver valuable grid services for transmission operators and conversely, how these new services could be set aside ...

Vehicle to grid: electric vehicles as an energy storage solution
SPIE Proceedings, 2013With increased focus on intermittent renewable energy sources such as wind turbines and photovoltaics, there comes a rising need for large-scale energy storage. The vehicle to grid (V2G) project seeks to meet this need using electric vehicles, whose high power capacity and existing power electronics make them a promising energy storage solution.

Vehicle to grid (V2G) and grid to vehicle (G2V) energy management system
i-manager's Journal on Power Systems Engineering, 2022Electric Vehicle (EV) batteries are potential energy storage devices in microgrids. It can help to manage microgrid energy consumption by storing energy when there is a surplus (Grid-To-Vehicle, G2V) and returning energy to the grid (Vehicle-To-Grid, V2G) when there is a demand.

Economic and battery health conscious vehicle-to-grid electric vehicle operation
2016 IEEE Power & Energy Society Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference (ISGT), 2016Maximizing profits through vehicle-to-grid interactions are in conflict with the minimizing battery degradation costs, and thus a major customer concern. A holistic scheduling problem is, therefore, required to consider the impact of the charging power and that of the switching between vehicle-to-grid and grid-to-vehicle modes to account for battery ...

Cyber–Physical Device Authentication for the Smart Grid Electric Vehicle Ecosystem
IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2014Entity authentication and related key management is an active research topic in smart grid security. However, existing works seem to have overlooked the significance that the smart grid is a cyber-physical system, which entails more considerations in the integration of its cyber and physical domains.

Optimal operation of vehicle-to-grid and grid-to-vehicle systems integrated with renewables
2016 Power Systems Computation Conference (PSCC), 2016Bidirectional public charging stations of plug-in electric-vehicles (PEVs) are expected to provide both grid-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-grid services. The flexibility of the operation of these types of distributed energy resources can be exploited through time-of-use (TOU) tariffs dictated by distribution system operators and/or retailers.

An Overview of Wireless Communication Networks for Grid-Enabled Vehicles
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014Grid-enabled vehicles (GEVs) can draw and store energy from the power grid to support their propulsion systems as well as feed back power to the grid via power converters. They are regarded as one of the most effective tools to address environmental and energy issues.

Smart Charging of Electric Vehicles in Grid-to-Vehicle (G2V) Networks
2019The smart charging of electric vehicles (EVs) in grid-to-vehicle (G2V) networks has evolved as a potential solution to enhance the energy efficiency and stability of the grid. However, uncontrolled charging of EVs can lead to the grid instability, which can be avoided if the charging of EVs is appropriately scheduled in the grid.
