A review on the suitability of virtual inertia strategies for the next generation of low-inertia power systems

open access: yese-Prime: Advances in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Energy
Modern power grids are increasingly challenged by the lack of inertia caused by the high penetration of renewable energy sources (RES). This low inertia leads to reduced frequency stability and greater vulnerability to disturbances. To address this issue,

Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

Transient Voltage Support Strategy of Grid-Forming Medium Voltage Photovoltaic Converter in the LCC-HVDC System

open access: yesCSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems
The participation of photovoltaic (PV) plants in supporting the transient voltage caused by commutation failure in the line-commutated-converter-based high voltage direct current (LCC-HVDC) system is of great significance, as it can enhance the DC ...

Lipid Nanoparticles for the Delivery of CRISPR/Cas9 Machinery to Enable Site‐Specific Integration of CFTR and Mutation‐Agnostic Disease Rescue

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are optimized to co‐deliver Cas9‐encoding messenger RNA (mRNA), a single guide RNA (sgRNA) targeting the endogenous cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene, and homologous linear double‐stranded donor DNA (ldsDNA) templates encoding CFTR.

Copper Doping Enhances the Activity and Selectivity of Atomically Precise Ag44 Nanoclusters for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By a simple anti‐Galvanic reaction, up to six copper atoms could be preferably doped into the Ag2(SR)5 staple motifs and Ag20 dodecahedral shell of an atomically precise Ag44(SR)30 nanocluster. When anatase TiO2 is used as substrate, the (AgCu)44/TiO2 photocatalyst exhibited much improved activity in photocatalytic CO2 reduction compared to Ag44/TiO2 ...

Smooth switching control method for grid-following and grid-forming converters

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series
Abstract In the end grid with high penetration of new energy, a single control mode of grid-following or grid-forming makes it difficult to balance stability, economy, and grid-supporting capabilities. To solve the above problems, starting from the topological structures and mathematical models of grid-following and grid-forming ...

Enhancing CoFe Catalysts with V2CTX MXene‐Derived Materials for Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MXene dervied CoFe composites show increased initial Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER) activity compared to the pure CoFe and MXene in an Anion Exchange Membrane device. Vanadium vacancies in the MXene plays a role in increased OER activity and hinders Fe leaching in the AEM device over using the pure V2C MXene as a support material for the CoFe ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
