An innovative perspective on mapping in grids

Proceedings of the 2009 workshop on Bio-inspired algorithms for distributed systems, 2009
To execute large scale applications exploiting the unemployed aggregated power available on grid nodes, effective and efficient mapping algorithms must be designed. Since the problem of optimally mapping is NP-complete, heuristic techniques can be profitably adopted to find near-optimal solutions.

Using Grids in Maps

2000
Our approach aims at a general description that is common to all types of grids used in diagrammatic representations despite their individual differences. Based on our analysis, we specify different types of spatial knowledge and single out in which way a particular type of grid represents a particular type of spatial knowledge.

Decentralized certainty grid maps

Proceedings 2003 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2003) (Cat. No.03CH37453), 2004
This work is concerned with mapping of indoor environment by a team of robots who share the information they gather to build a global representation of the environment in a consistent, efficient, and scalable way. The well known approach of Decentralized Data Fusion is applied to a widely used representation of Certainty Grid maps.

Optimal Pathfinding on Weighted Grid Maps

Proceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2023
In many computer games up to hundreds of agents navigate in real-time across a dynamically changing weighted grid map. Pathfinding in these situations is challenging because the grids are large, traversal costs are not uniform, and because each shortest path has many symmetric permutations, all of which must be considered by an optimal online search ...

Improving localization in digital maps with grid maps

16th International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC 2013), 2013
This paper presents a self-localization concept for road vehicles using only a mono camera as sensor. It employs a particle filter to estimate the global position based on a digital map of lane markings. A grid map is used to smoothen the lane marking detections.

A grid-enabled Web map server

International Conference on Information Technology: Coding and Computing (ITCC'05) - Volume II, 2005
Today Geographic Information Systems (GIS) provide several tools for studying and analyzing varied human and natural phenomena, therefore GIS and geospatial data has grown so much in both public and private organizations. A challenge is the integration of these data to get innovative and exhaustive knowledge about topics of interest.
