Research on grinding forces of a bionic engineered grinding wheel

Journal of Manufacturing Processes, 2019
Abstract Higher grinding forces have harmful impact on service life of grinding wheel and surface integrity of workpiece. Large supply of cutting fluid is often used to lower grinding force by improving lubrication condition, but it will cause various environmental threats. In this paper, an engineered grinding wheel (EGW) bio-inspired by phyllotaxis

Finite element analysis of influence of grinding parameters on grinding force

Proceedings of 2011 International Conference on Electronic & Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology, 2011
In this paper, based on the three-dimensional finite element model of surface grinding, the finite element analysis was employed to analyze the influence of grinding parameters on grinding force during the machining of SiCp/Al composites using diamond grinding wheel. The results indicate that model can reflect tendency of grinding force.

Development of Force Controlled Robot for Grinding

1992
Abstract A Force Controlled Robot for grinding has been developed for factory use. The robot is based on a conventional industrial robot, but a force sensor, force control computing board and force control software have been added. The Force Controlled Robot uses Virtual Compliance Control, with which the position control mode, force control mode and

Modeling and experimental study of grinding forces in surface grinding

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2009
Grinding forces are composed of chip formation force and sliding force. A new mathematical model of grinding forces in surface grinding is developed in this paper. Effectiveness of this model is proved by comparison of the experimental results and the model calculation results.

Analysis of the Grinding Force in Plunging Bevel Gear Grinding

2018
Due to rising requirements concerning efficiency and noise excitation of gear drives, the hard finishing of gears has become a necessary process step for many applications. The hard finishing by grinding is an established manufacturing process for various types of gears, as good geometric and surface quality can be achieved.

Forces in Dry Surface Grinding

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1952
Abstract A dynamometer is described for measuring independently the normal and tangential forces in surface grinding. These forces are correlated with such variables as wheel speed, table speed, depth of cut, direction of table motion, grit material and size, specimen hardness and dressing technique.

Forces in vertical surface grinding

International Journal of Machine Tool Design and Research, 1968
Abstract The forces between wheel and workpiece under Vertical Grinding conditions have been measured with the aid of a three-dimensional dynamometer. Tests were carried out on mild steel, medium carbon steel, and cast iron specimens using table speeds of 10–85 ft/min and down feeds of 0·0005-0·003 in.
