Shear-Mode Grinding Based on The Constant Grinding Force.

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering, 1997
In the shear-mode grinding of brittle materials, the performance of grinding wheels is often described as the grinding force, which usually changes during the process. However, it was ascertained that a steady constant grinding force exists under shear-mode grinding of optical glass of BK7.

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Characterization of Macro/Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of Austenitic Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Cladding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cladding is a proven method that boosts the surface qualities of mechanical parts by applying a layer of more durable material over a base substrate. This work responds to the needs of offshore and pressure vessels sectors by focusing on cladding a super austenitic steel onto low‐carbon steel through gas tungsten arc welding.

Study of longitudinal vibrations of stab knife refiners [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The subject of research is the longitudinal vibrations of stab knife refiners. A model of the fibrous layer between the rotor and stator is developed. It is shown that it is advisable to use the Maxwell-Thomson model for liquid friction of the rotor and ...

Understanding the Stochastic Nature of Process Parameter Development of Blown Powder Laser Beam Directed Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing of Pure Molybdenum

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the
