High-Accuracy Stereo Matching Based on Adaptive Ground Control Points

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2015
This paper proposes a novel high-accuracy stereo matching scheme based on adaptive ground control points (AdaptGCP). Different from traditional fixed GCP-based methods, we consider color dissimilarity, spatial relation, and the pixel-matching reliability to select GCP adaptively in each local support window.

Global stereo matching leveraged by sparse ground control points

CVPR 2011, 2011
We present a novel global stereo model that makes use of constraints from points with known depths, i.e., the Ground Control Points (GCPs) as referred to in stereo literature. Our formulation explicitly models the influences of GCPs in a Markov Random Field.

Ground control points refresh for MODIS and VIIRS geolocation monitoring

Earth Observing Systems XXVI, 2021
The Control Point Matching(CPM) program and a set of over 1200 globally distributed ground control points (GCPs ) have been successfully used to develop more than 20 years of MODIS geolocation products. In this research, we refresh current GCP library with more than 2500 new GCPs using the latest Landsat 8 Collection 2 images.

Quality assessment of TerraSAR-X derived ground control points

2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012
The orbit accuracy of TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X radar satellites is in the range of centimeters. This information is useful to carry out high precision surveying from space. The objective of this study is the quality assessment of ground control points (GCPs) retrieved from TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X imagery.

Belief propagation stereo matching algorithm using ground control points

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
This paper presents a Belief Propagation (BP) stereo matching algorithm using ground control points. The proposed algorithm combines local and global stereo methods, which first utilizes local stereo method to obtain an initial disparity map, then the ground control points are selected from the initial disparity and used on belief propagation algorithm

Directly Georeferenced Ground Feature Points with UAV Borne Photogrammetric Platform without Ground Control

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
In order to facilitate applications such as environment detection or disaster monitoring, developing a quickly and low cost system to collect near real time spatial information is very important. Such a rapid spatial information collection capability has become an emerging trend in the technology of remote sensing and mapping application. In this study,

Automatic relocation of ground control points in Landsat imagery†

International Journal of Remote Sensing, 1983
Abstract Images obtained from the Landsat multispectral scanner are not provided in any normally recognized map projection system, so it is often necessary for a transformation to be made. This is usually done with the aid of ground control points, whose locations on the ground (or on a map)are accurately known and which can be accurately located ...

Boresight Calibration of Airborne LiDAR System Without Ground Control Points

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2012
This letter proposes a new method for boresight misalignment calibration of the charge-coupled device (CCD) camera which is one component of an airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) system without ground control points (GCPs). In the calibration, tie points in overlapping areas are first selected, and then, a multibaseline forward intersection ...

Invariant models for ground control points in high resolution images

International Journal of Remote Sensing, 1998
This paper addresses the problem of automatic identification of ground control points (GCPs) in high resolution satellite digital images. The method is based on characteristics of GCPs and their neighbourhood, invariant with respect to rotation and contrast change.
